Sanook reported that yet another university professor has ripped off fellow lecturers and students in a share scheme - this time in Chiang Mai.

The news follows hotfoot on the case of the Head of the English department at Bangkok University who ripped off investors and students in a plan to offer study holidays in the UK in October.

The latest case involves an unnamed university in the Huay Kaew area of the northern Thai capital. She was only named as Koy.

She gained the confidence of friends and students and was offering interest rates of 10-15% a month.

Losses of many victims run into the tens of millions of baht.

Sources said that Koy has fled to Malaysia allegedly to work and get some money back to pay off those she has defrauded.

Meanwhile, dozens of claimants have gone to police stations all over the Chiang Mai area to register complaints.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, sure. She'll no doubt be there for the future, or until she can find somewhere better to live and avoid returning home to Thailand.

I hope she’s great looking, and very skilled, if she plans on making cash like that

Any evidence whatsoever that she was a professor? I certainly can't find any.

Not all university academics are professors.

Sscumbag - yet another evil scheming and money grabbing Thai woman. There are many of them so beware.

No, it was more likely everyone they asked just spat out "koy" when she was mentioned!  ????

Seriously couldn't make this up. The accused studied law before becoming a teacher ,and by the time they checked her accounts she had 25 satang left. Previously there had been up to 11 million in the same accounts. In her supposed money lending venture it turned out there was no details/lists of borrowers and she had used all the money herself.

There are more details in the Thai language article.

You Tink Too Mutt!!!!   Now take me shop--PING!...teelak!

The picture is in fact very misleading, it suggests she got away with only just over 400k

In fact if you read the article she got away with around 10m bt
