So the Asus does not have a good sound? I am not too concerned about the volume, but very concerned about the sound quality.

If you want sound quality, then better off buying something like a Harman Kardon bluetooth speaker as add-on. There is no need for integrated portability presumably as one is buying a 17.3" model.

  • Hi Possum. You will never get a 'very good sound' out of a laptop, depending on your definition of very good. Try a USB or Soundbar speaker. Or a couple of M-Audio self powered studio monitors......no

  • a 17 inch screen with a whopping 720 resolution im guessing.

  • Just hook up the laptop to your big screen TV via HDMI,  that's what I do. I'm on a smart TV 55" right now .

I now have an eye on a combination as it will be in the same place all the time. I will keep the rest of your post in mind. Thanks.

Personally, if not looking for portability, I would go for an "All in one", Big C had a nice Lenovo "All in one" yesterday, 21.5 inch screen, built in dvd etc, Good spec for 14.9k !!

Just sits there looking like a monitor but has everything you want "All in one" ????

I am still using the Lenovo B310 original model from 2011 and built well.  Only failure was a HD and easy to replace.  Have since bought a newer model for granddaughter (who uses a lot) - newer models are much lighter and thinner.  But even the B310 worked well for Bangkok flood when moved to hotel for several weeks.  21" screens are large enough to watch movies in comfort.  This model has touch screen but do not find that useful so no need to pay extra for it IMHO.
