Is it not possible it could be an accident?  Perhaps he decided to sleep in the car instead of going inside after the argument, became cold and thought a heater was a good idea. It did state he was wrapped in a blanket so he could have been feeling the cold.

Just a theory, feel free to disagree or deride my thoughts.

Actually I have seen it many times in articles here on Thai Visa as a means of suicide.  But granted, I would not have thought of it.  But I don't think of suicide either
