After having their tour bus stolen with all their instruments onboard The Who look to some friends to help them out !!

Thursday by Morphine off of their '93 release, Cure For Pain.  If you like bass and sax you'll love this band.

My favourite number off of this LP, In Spite Of Me.  Years ago I created a playlist of what I deem are pretty songs.  This one is on that playlist.

Another pretty song.  Sara off of Fleetwood Mac's '79 Tusk LP.

And another very pretty song, Songbird, again by Fleetwood Mac off their '77 Rumours LP.

Roy Harper's pretty song, Goldfish, off of his '69 Sophisticated Beggar LP.

Yankee Lady, a very pretty song by Jesse Winchester off his '70 self titled debut.

Mazzy Star's pretty song, Fade Into You, off her '93 release, So Tonight That I Might See.

China Girl, a pretty song by David Bowie off his '83 LP, Let's Dance.

Music is Love, a pretty song by David Crosby off his '71 LP, If Only I Could Remember My Name.

Another pretty song by Fleetwood Mac, Woman Of A 1,000 Dreams, off of their '71 Future Games LP.  The LP version isn't available in "my country" so I'll have to settle with a '72 live performance.

Van Morrison's pretty song, Tupelo Honey, the title track off the '71 LP.

The Jesus & Mary Chain's Just Like Honey, a pretty song off their '85 LP, Psychocandy.

Another pretty song by Jesus & Mary Chain with Mazzy Star, Sometimes Always, off of their '94 Stoned And Dethroned LP.

A pretty song by Judy Collins, Someday Soon, off her '68 Who Knows Where The Time Goes LP.

What's your favourite pretty song?

One more (gotta stop sometime) . . . The Byrds Chestnut Mare off their '70 double-LP, Untitled.

Trying to get my head around Tipper's concept of a pretty song. I think I've got it. It should have a memorable tune, something to sing along to, perhaps when half-cut or more, but it shouldn't be too sad or depressing, that would spoil the ambience.

On that basis

Tippers had Chestnut Mare , a wonderful song. Here's another, so pretty and irresistible.

You got it, bannork!!  Nice examples, especially the Al Stewart tune.  It's easier for me to give examples than it is to put into words.  Slow songs.  Certainly nothing raucous.  No hard rock.  Love songs are often good candidates (no pussy whipped songs, though).  Love doesn't necessarily have to be about male/female relationships.  Charming, soft melodies.  Excellent lyrics.  The Byrds Chestnut Mare, for instance.  The song is about the love of a man and a horse.  Very moving.  Emotional.  You got it right, bannork . . . a certain ambiance.

Here's another example I post on the other thread.
