A '56 movie scene with Eddie Cochran playing Twenty Flight Rock.  Check out the Cadillac bullet bumper chest on Jane Mansfield.  Whoooaaa!!  Control yerself there, tutsi!!

And for those who don't understand the bullet bumper term . . .

I didn't know about Dick-Dale. I just checked google and it was cancer. Can you post "Let's Go Tripping" . No kan-do on this phone. Rolling Stone article said Dales father had lebanese roots and Middle Eastern scales were backbone of surf music. Would have never known since don't know anything technical about music. Yes goes back to my territory, Laguna/Newport.

Now this is my kind of thread!

I'll start with this classic Gordon Lightfoot tune from 1976 (which has the most mesmerising lap steel guitar ever IMO).

Does anyone know where the love of God goes

When the waves turn the minutes to hours

The searchers all say they'd have made Whitefish Bay

If they'd put fifteen more miles behind her

Are you interested in the vid or the audio, morrobay?

TMI. Seems what you like merely resides, or doesn't, on the skin surface.

I wish I too could regress to innocent childhood when I thought movies were real and the people in them weren't just actors following scripts. More power to ya. But the boogeying maid was written in merely to lend Eddie Cochran more cred by playing to a stereotype.

Let's be fair. When Jayne gets a dancing part she wins plenty of eyeballs:

And nobody but you, or so you claim, is gon' take one of those joggers backing up Talking Heads over Jayne.

Parenthetically, it just kills me how this "Hang On Sloopy" vid, a karaoke version, has racked up 9 million views:

Who knew? What could possibly be the reason? ????

Fifty-three years ago these white girls do aerobic backup dancing so much better than your favorites--while packin’ six guns, no less--and are the reason an old low quality "I Fought Law" vid gets almost 14 million views compared to less than a million:

Oh, everyone thinks that about himself here no matter what. We can agree that you've discovered a couple of anatomical regions. Unfortunately, however, your experience is still too limited to permit you to overcome stereotypes. I knows better'n you that it’s really all about the individual.

Not again. Where's Ike Turner when you need him? To play to your fantasy, rather than choose a pair of joggers from a vid in 80s (off topic), let Ike show you what you should be lookin' at--in the 60s/70s.

Good thing you aren't distracted by lack of bras. ????

Unlike the Talking Heads backup singers, The Ikettes were a force of their own and usually gave Tina a break during concerts. Since we don't often see clips of just them, I'll throw this in:

Some great talent passed through the Ikettes. Bonnie Bramlett, you know, was a white Ikette for a short while. My fave is P. P. Arnold, of whom you've never heard. She strongly resembled an old girlfriend of mine and I admire her courage and independence. In her first post-Ikette gig:

She and Steve Marriott (RIP) made a great couple. Read more: https://www.theherald.com.au/story/5768865/first-lady-of-souls-rags-to-riches-story/

whoa...hold on there senor sixpack, so you prefer big tits on a white girl? that's cool...no need to insult and excoriate other folks preferences...

and I like Tina Turner too, her and the Ikettes provided a lot of fantasy material for prepubescent white boys back in the 60s...Jayne never did much fer me but I came to appreciate Marilyn more as I got older, nicer proportioned and with acting talent to boot...

and I've seen that Sloopy video before and the girl can really dance and she's got nice stuff as well...

lighten up man, calm down and maybe then you'll live longer than the garden variety opinionated crotchety bugger...

btw this is a nice one from the 60s and not a jogging suit in sight

Long jam by the Weather Report, Boogie Woogie Waltz, off of their '73 Sweetnighter LP.

super...an SF bay TV channel used an edited version of this as an intro to their evening news broadcast in the early 70s...best TV news intro I ever heard...usually it was some urgent sounding garbage that no one needed...

That was supposed to be Boogie Woogie Waltz.  It was, instead, Birdland.  Happens when you select from a YT playlist.  You might select a tune X songs into the list but you'll be posting the 1st song in the list instead.  That changed when TV made changes however many months ago now.

Here you go, tutsi.  Break out that old guitar and Dick'll show you how to pick it!

well...I still got the yamaha dreadnought that I bought about 10 years ago in the 'featured products' area near the entrance of the big tescos in suphan town...the action needs some work as I tore up my fingers the last time I tried to play it...

I put it down for good about 45 years ago (gave it to a teenaged quebecois runaway named Colette that wanted to learn to play and I was showing her some chords) and something died in me, it was sad but I was playing the same old shit and not going forward and the frustration became too much to bear...these days you can learn new licks from instructors on youtube everyday...
