Surely he must have played against Hudds as he's a regular ????

Regular definition: "happening or doing something often". Yep Foden plays often, a regular then.

Think youre mistakenly thinking Regular is someone who plays in EVERY game ????

Honestly mate ???? sometimes you make yourself look silly.

We don't need to consult a dictionary. In sporting terms a regular means someone who plays near enough every game if fit. Fernandinho or Aguero = regular. Foden is not a regular.

If you follow this thread you should  have known that Alfie used a dictionary  for a definition  of Regular. Get it now?

  • Good game, enjoyed it.
  • City content to play in 2nd gear.
  • Burton were far better, made it difficult for us, came close a couple of times. Think both clubs were happy with how it went.
  • MOM for me was Sandler (full debut) or Garcia. Both excellent. Very composed. Garcia is a small CB but his reading of the game is excellent.
  • Poveda (debut), is a nippy little player with an excellent first touch; good 1st half, then went quiet and then woke up again when his mate Nmecha came on.
  • Muric was very decent. Tall, big, fast off his line, can kick, saved us a few times. Expect he will play in the final not Ederson.
  • Foden was Foden. Played at his own pace, floating in and out of the game, but he tries too much at times.
  • Nmecha (debut) looked decent. Didn’t do much wrong. Had a chance at the end. Kept it nice and simple.
  • KDB and Aguero both look desperately short of match fitness. KDB helped set up the goal with a great pass to Mahrez. Aguero labored but got a great goal. Not a great night for either of them.
  • Mendy came on but he looked as you’d expect. Heavy, poor touch, but he ran and tried to do what fit Mendy can do. Good to see him back.
  • Danilo and Delph both had their typical 6/10 performances. Some good stuff but a few mistakes.
  • Zinchenko tidy going forward but a worry defending.
  • Mahrez was the only ‘established’ player who performed. He had a decent game.
  • Jesus came on for Aguero and labored like him – should have scored at the end.
  • Horrible night to play. Extremely cold, the pitch very slippy which caused lots of problems.
  • Think the 6.5k crowd enjoyed the night and the comradery between the two sets of fans was good to see.
  • I was impressed by our kids who out-shown our ‘regular’ players.

Good summary of the individual performances BB. Really good experience for the lads to play with Aguero and KdB etc. That pitch was awful. It was cutting up in places and very slippery. Most of the players slipped at one point or another and ended up on their butt. Glad we didn't get any injuries

Guardiola deserves praise for playing some big names for their fans to see and still doing it despite very poor playing decisions.  Pochettino did the same and its good to see managers showing respect to lower league fans.

???? Those players all needed a run out, as they are on their way back from injuries / illness. With Kane he was just keeping him ticking over.

But why not take the plaudits for respecting lower league clubs? ???? It was a neat little PR move by Poch. That's the kind of quick thinking which could make him a candidate to be next United boss. But we might let you keep him... we'll see.

And this from the only United fan on their thread that was arguing that Mourinho was doing alright and it was all just media driven rubbish.

All it was , was a bit of class being shown by both managers, whether you like to accept that or not, but then again some will always find cynicism in the nicest of gestures.

I'm starting to wonder why you bother Rick, but at least you're not moaning and whining again!!????

Absolutely. After seeing the pitch, Pep could have withdrawn some of the senior players. You can always tell a quality manager and the respect they show by how their peers talk about them and there ain’t many who have a bad word to say about Poch, Pep and Klopp

The 'Evil One' Mourinho is also held in the same regard by many managers down the pyramid, and was by all accounts seen as a good guy by fellow managers.

He's a prize tit without a job I think you'll find no matter how much you still idolise him.

Widely regarded as one of the country’s most exciting young prospects, Foden had been linked with Paris St-German, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig among a number of other clubs but the 18-year-old had no intention of leaving his boyhood club and is determined to nail down a regular first team place under Pep Guardiola.

He has made five starts and 11 sub appearances (all competitions) this season, but despite the obvious contrasts with the relative success of his former teammates, huge optimism remains among club insiders that he will buck the trend and become the homegrown, first-team regular they have been craving.

Glad to see ive been keeping you busy.

And I'll be dropping those boys a line in how to use a dictionary - they seem to have gone out of use these days eh Alfie. Call themselves journalists (definition: person who writes for newspapers, magazines, or news websites or prepares news to be broadcast).

Dear fellow posters

In future when posting, it is mandatory to post the definitions of words, failing which you'll end up in a debate with pedant Alfie on what you meant by your choice of a word.

Last night was City's youngest starting XI for over a decade.

City fans raving over Eric Garcia and wanting him promoted in the first team squad as a REGULAR. Not the biggest for a CB but he's hardly put a foot wrong. With him and Adam Sandler, have we found next season's replacement(s) for Kompany and/or Otamendi (one or both will be offski in the summer)?

Hardly surprising is it?

Play them in a competitive match and we'll applaud it.

No you wouldn’t. And which competitive match should we try them out in?

Or when you are 9-0 up from the 1st leg.  Bravo.  They could have played the groundsman at center forward if they wanted to.????
