If you check your bank account statement, I think you will find that "a lousy 5 billion dollars" is a lot of money. Correct me, but is that not 50 million, million dollars.

And walls can be got around, over, under and through.

I suspect you may find that there are more illegal migrants that flew into the US. Check it out.

If ever anyone does build a silly wall, you may find you need to build a Canadian Wall, because that will be the next seive.

Lastly, the republicans promised that Mexico was going to build this wall. Remember that big whopper. Laughing stock of the world

Apparently walls are quite popular despite what many  think!

"From 7 to 77: There's been an explosion in building border walls since World War II"

What a laugh it is that the same people who are against socialism in government funded health care turn around and are for socialism in a government funded border wall. What hypocrites.

"I won't pay for other peoples health care!"

"I demand other people pay for the border wall that I want!"

If you want that wall so bad, maybe it should be crowd-sourced? Let's see how much funding the wall gets then.

Again just make a user fee like an airport. How many people cross a year x $20.

It makes perfect sense to build a wall where a wall will be effective and to build a fence where a fence will be effective.  It makes no sense to spend billions of dollars building a wall or fence where it will not be effective simply to claim that you built a wall.

And the opposite of spending billions for a non-functional deterrent in areas where it is not rational to do so is not open borders.   Why is that the only possible other option in your minds?

There are many illegals that flew into the US. There are many illegals that went 20 miles out to sea and then landed.

There are many illegals that catch a boat across the great lakes. Have you seen the border fence when it is near the sea at the Mexico border, it goes 20 yards out to sea.

Ever hear of people who got over, under around or through fences and walls.

This whole deal is a huge crock. It appeals to people who cannot process much in the way of thought.

The first law the US needs to sort out is to return illegals when they are caught. Foreign policy and foreign aid can do this.

The US has thousands of miles of unpatrolled coast and the Canadian border.

Give me enough money and a freedom pass and I can enter at anytime.

I definitely don't want to live or stay. Too many gun crazy rednecks.

Make its felony to cross illegally in addition to the wall. There is currently no deterent.

If your 1st bold font statement above means end "catch and release", I could not agree more. (Trump favors this as well.)

Your 2nd bold font statement, is the best news I've heard all day.

Maybe Republicans are the new "tax and spend" party? A wall "fee" is just another way to say a wall tax.

Sad. Very sad. Not dignified and just disrespectful to the US population.

As much as one wishes to insult former Presidents and politicians,  one has not seen such displays of childish misbehavior for at least the past 50 years.

I can't stand Pelosi, and this didn't help her, but Trump is a raving buffoon.

Sure, lots of countries impose departure fees at airports, (most of which are included in ticket prices today, but which we had to pay in cash in the old days), but everyone understands the bargain that that fee helps offset the tremendous capital expenditure of building airports. That is not the same thing as imposing a burdensome land-crossing fee to pay for a monstrous capex albatross of a wall. That would impose hardships on business, transportation of goods and persons, have a chilling effect on cross border tourism and all sorts of other nasty side effects.

You cannot impose a border fee for land crossings when most users cannot and will not understand the bargain involved. In other words, there is no utility in legal border crosser's minds to pay such a fee.  Unworkable.

Doesnt modern day Drone technology negate any idea that a wall stops drugs. A $1000 drone with some GPS etc could take itself over any wall and land at a pre-programmed destination, 10-20 kilos of drugs.

Pablo Escobar could fly it from his lounge room.

You have obviously never heard of devices that jam frequencies.

Again this types of posts are by people who for whatever reason want America to have open borders. They make such posts and also say what is or isn't popular in America regardless off the fact they don't happen to be in the USA. But somehow they know for sure what Americans think of the wall. It's hard to understand why they care so much what the USA spends its money on if they are truly neutral.

Let Pelosi and Schumer spend 6 months on the border near Nogales with no fence and pull out the ICE agents.

So.... if the dems are prepared to continue with current funding ( which apparently they are) for border security.... as in keep going in the current format.... then you must be saying here that the current situation is “open borders”. Is this a correct take?

obviously the waffle about living near the fence and removing ICE is sheer stupidity to spin off on, as far a tangents go.... lol... as is talking about dems living in gated communities.... hell, trump lets them in and gives them jobs making his bed

'I will shut down this country'. Any questions left who bears responsibility if a shutdown happens?

Nice one Chuck ' "When the president brags that he won North Dakota and Indiana, he's in real trouble," Schumer said to the astonished press '.

I guess no more votes for the Dems from North Dakota or Indiana.

I made no bold font statement. Check out the meaning of font.

I have no policy agreement with Mr Trump. (He deserves respect as Mr) He has no title of respect more than Mr.

If you quote me, you should include the entire quote, not cherry pick. Thank you.

Goes on for days and days and days and days. Millions and millions and millions of dollars worth of drugs seized just yesterday alone by CBP. Along with felons, child traffickers, child sex offenders, etc....

The US, home of capitalism, fails to understand the drug market, like all markets, is driven by demand.

Whileever there is a demand for drugs there will be a supply.

Build walls, throw smugglers in prison, shoot smugglers, do what ever you wish, the supply shall meet the demand.

You just need a tourist visa and a round trip airline ticket.

Easy peasy.

Yes, it is that easy to enter the US. My dare was to enter the US illegally. IF I had a get out of jail card for free.

It is not what I will do but you must see my point. A Great Big Beautiful Wall, if ever built will be a huge and total waste of money.

It can only appeal to his base voters, because anyone with half a clue will see just how silly this idea is.

I am all for border control, but walls are not the answer. They never have been.

But who amoungst the supporters of his policy has ever read what happens to the history of building walls.

I have, but I doubt those devices would be effective over 3,000 kilometres of border, 1,000 meters high etc. If a drone is flying autonomously to a GPS co-ordinate there are no signals to block. Easy to find news stories that its already how drugs are now shipped, a wall will make no difference.
