Looking for a kitchen

Recommended Posts

I know this may be the wrong forum but it's as close as I could find. I'm currently looking for a reasonably priced modern style kitchen for my newly constructed house. I have looked into IKEA and some other companies but am still not convinced. Does anyone know a decent kitchen company who will also install the kitchen for me? Any information on dealers in the Chonburi area would be great. I live in Phanat Nikhom approx 1hr North East of Chonburi City. Thanks in advance.

Any of the large "home stores/ DIY" will have them and offer an installation service.

Homepro, Global house, and many others in your region.

I have looked at most places but have not been impressed by the designs. For me IKEA had the best looking kitchens. I was looking more for a company specializing in Kitchens.

Have you thought about a builder do the base from blocks and then fitting doors with overhead units. Lot cheaper and good selection of units at Watsadu and the like.

@baneko, if you want to go down that route there is a wood yard in Bo Thong who can hand-build frames and cupboard doors at a very reasonable cost. They'll come out and measure up too.

From the 331 going south take the left turn towards Bo Thong. Just as you enter town they are on the right.

I was in the same fix as the OP looked for a couple of years. The only place that I found that had strong western style cabinets was at Index. Went for them as I wanted Granite work tops so they had to be able to do the job. (N/B Got tops sorted by a different company Modern BKK granite company. I fitted those myself with the aid of 5 Thai men to lift them on they weigh a ton) Index has great fitting service ditto price.

They turned up at 11am, finished the job within 4 hours. 13 cabinets in total + a 3 draw unit. I just gave them the size of room and they planned the whole thing on their comp: With lots of help from me as Granite work tops here only come 3mt + a bit long, without a join. They do have a good selection of normal work tops if you prefer.

Have just found a couple of snaps Not great but you'll get the idea. No sink, washing Machine, Oven as I have a utility room and separate Thai kitchen for those.

My wife has this style of kitchen for her thai kitchen and its very nice. I am looking for a more modern design as it will be part of an open plan kitchen, living area.

Your welcome. Index kitchen unites also come with all the internal cabinet things in S/Steel you could ever want like EG corner fold out ones. + all their door/draws are self closing.

They don't seem to do under cabinet light box fittings in Thailand. I solved that by getting my local S/Steel man to make those for me. (As in first snap) Then used thin tubes or you could try LED ones, but they are a bit bright. Just make sure you sort your wiring out prior to Tiling or whatever you going to put on the wall. I stuck mine behind the granite splash back then tacked them to the under side of the cabinets, also put a single switch powering both sets of lights under all out of the way.

Just found snaps of a friends kitchen not quite finished showing a different colour and work tops also from Index.

Hope the above helps.

If you put in an oven, my suggestion is to put it at counter-top height instead of under-counter.  That's what I did and it's much more convenient than stooping over trying to get things in/out.  Why under seems to be a convention is beyond me.  Also, make sure you have two 20 amp circuits and enough power points to handle counter-top appliances (I have 4 duplex on each circuit).  Extension cord in the kitchen is NOT safe.

Good point. I have as said a Thai kitchen as well. Have fitted a commercial gas Pizza oven in that as well as hobs as they will never ware out. Regards the Electric I have fitted two separate twin Circuit breakers. Half the power runs off one leaving the other half on the other one, just in case there is a problem with one circuit the other one will work. At least you will be able to see what's happening if it's dark.

Is there a branch of Boonthavorn near you? They have a good range of modern and traditional styles.

My Sister-in-law recently had a kitchen designed and installed by Kitchen Express, which is part of Boonthavorn. They did a nice job.

Not cheap, but not stupidly expensive. Good value (IMHO).

Thanks for the info. I have looked into them and will take a visit. They look pretty good.
