Development Planning, a free for all?

There is something to be said for having a Planning Authority, inparticularly for urban development.

Its pretty slack here if it exists at all?

Great for us building houses as it often works in our favour with few if any regulations to follow.

But conversely it can work against us inviting a free for all to run any business or put up architectural disasters and often with those outlandish colour and material choices without any regard to the neighbours.

Take these three examples. They are all on the same road over a couple hundred metres.

Both the houses last year were stunning properties and worth a pretty penny.

The last one, the container consortium... Well its innovative but tbh horrendous.

Look how easily all properties have become undesirable through a poor choice of materials, a business set up next door, and some diy architecture all because there is no control into urban planning and control.

Are you in favour of some development control, laissez faire or has it affected you adversely.?

There is little planning in Thailand, and few building rules.

As far as I can see the only answer is to buy all the land for as far as you can see. That way you should be able to avoid slums - or worse - appearing next door to your house.
