Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
I was mulling this over with a mate last night, again. The UK - Thai DTA explicitly states that UK Gov Pensions are only taxable in the UK. Quite simple and easy to understand. What the UK - Thai DTA does not state, is. 1. You are exempt from Reporting / Declaring that pension. 2. You are exempt from Thai tax Law should you become a tax resident of Thailand. 3. This Pension is non - Assessable for tax purposes in Thailand. Add into the mix, that this Agreement was signed in 1982 and in the last 18 months or so, Thailand has adopted CRS, and issued the 2 POR's. Therefore it is perfectly feasible that a Gov Pension is Reportable / Declarable for tax purposes, but is exempt from Thai Tax due to DTA. Which is why I was back at the RD Office on Monday. There will be very few, if any, that retired from Government Service with a full pension that is below the levels of UK taxation. Unless they went in at the lowest level, and stayed there for the next 25 / 30 / 40 years. -

4M baht taxable?
What we need is for someone to have done this several times last year, and already filed Thai taxes this year. Maybe Jan 8th is too early, but I'm waiting for a guinea pig 🐷 -

Thai Banks and Mobile Operators to Bear Costs of Phone Scam Damages
Compulsory 2 factor authentication via mobile phone can be a nightmare for frequent travellers. There are some countries in which your home SIM card doesn’t work, and what happens if your phone stops working or is stolen? There should be an option for people to have a bank account which doesn’t require 2 factor authentication, for which the user absolves the bank of any responsibility in case of losses due to fraud. -

3 ways to make TV/AN a more pleasant and more useful experience
Thanks, @bokningar for that comment. That's how I started, too, just ignoring the worst of them. This forum improved for me. Then I ignored more and more, a lot really. And the forum improved even more! Now, I estimate that I see only about one post out of 10-20. That's all. Much more pleasant experience reading here. I can't comment about who did what, because I don't know the facts. But traffic, plenty of traffic, is essential for advertising revenue. And no advertising revenue ... no forum! My goal is to make the reading here pleasant, useful, and efficient -- within that situation. Suggestions, please how to do that. -
