Kalasin villagers wage battle with supernatural after three ‘mysterious’ deaths

Residents of two villages in Kalasin held rituals yesterday in a bid to ward off an evil spirit believed responsible for the sudden deaths of three local men.
 

Folks in Ban Non Buppha (Moo 9) and Ban Dong Nue (Moo 2) in Kuchinarai district are convinced the spirit of a deceased widow killed the men and would kill more if not stopped. 

 

“My husband was perfectly healthy when he suddenly stopped breathing,” Supaporn Saensuri said of her 60-year-old husband, Songdej Saensuri. He died on January 2.

 

She joined her neighbours as they prepared rice, dried food, shells, betel nut and sand for merit-making rituals. 

 

They strung white thread around Ban Dong Nue, hung red shirts in front of their houses and placed wooden phalluses painted red – palad khik – at all entrances to the village to keep the spirit away, said resident Pijid Kongwayha, 64. 

 

 

He said the ritual was planned after Songdej and two others died. Neighbours insisted that none of the men suffered from chronic illness.

 

Songdej was found dead with no sign of injury other than a wound on one palm suffered while toiling in the fields. 

 

In recent weeks, many women in the villages began having dreams about a female spirit coming to take away their husbands, Supaporn said. 

 

Some also said they saw a mysterious glowing object in the dead of the night, others that they dreamed about a black-skinned man. 

 

Healthcare officials, rarely impressed by supernatural claims, said Songdej’s hand injury became infected with fatal results, while the other men died from heart disease and haemorrhagic stroke, respectively.

And every sunday loads of places in the so called developed world are filled with the ones who believe that the holy spirit is upon them...., send by a mysterious man living in heaven, to whom they pray and sing a couple of songs to.  He is the one who gives and takes and protects them from evil and is their savior so they say.

we bought current house, in falang suburbia Melbourne Aust, two years ago.

 

 

soon after purchasing, and getting to know the neighbours; one thing came up, about previous Indian owners and a death...

 

... so for almost two years, there is this poor old fraying single circle length of the white cotton thread, threaded the entire house. 

 

Wife usually also throws anything away, no mater how new, if it is even 0.01% broken!

 

So, I have been stealthly doing running Sydney Harbour Bridge span repair jobs on discreet lengths, when it looks like yet again the string is/was about to give up the ghost 

 

 

wWife really hates dead Indians. But, I wonder if the anti Lao Khow string really works against non-Isarn ghosts?     But then, it was put up by a Lao Ajarn, so...

The last thing you'd want in a sleepy village out in the back ( ward ) waters of the sticks with a healthy consumption of Lao Khao and betel nut is a psychopathic spirit bent on running up a cricket score .. They need to exorcise a bit more ..

about 20-25 years ago we were in an Issan village and all the front gates had scarcrow type figures on them.  We asked why and it was the same thing 3-4 village men had mysteriously died and the scarecrows were to scare the evil spirits away from their home.
