Got ripped off by a song taew: the DLT's app & hotline are useless?

Well, I noted the taxi's license plate. Then called 1584. The woman spoke no English (and failed to transfer the call ro arrange a call back).

Next, I messaged them on Facebook. Was told to call the hotline and "use the app".

The app is not working on IOS. Can't even get past the registration with a mobile phone #.

Is this a conspiracy where Thais don't want to take reports of rogue taxi drivers? Just wondering!

I'd be more surprised if it did

This is what happens when you gift modern technology to cave dwellers

They have a natural ability to complicate anything they come across

many thais believe a farang has more money than they do.My advice is if you don't want to pay more than a thai than don't come to Thailand.

How were you 'ripped off' ?....

DLT web site... I too have had issues with it when I tried to use it last year...  in short its set up like a customer service complaint app / site, in reality they just don't care in the slightest... the only way to complain in Thailand is to go to social media and hope that the issue gains legs...

Of course, it would only gain legs if it is an issue worthy of comment...

There was an article out of Phuket the other day re complaints being filed with the Marine Dept there about errant boat operators and such. And the Marine Dept had just launched some new channels for filing complaints, and was promoting that change.

BUT... and there's always a BUT when it comes to Thai complaint handling...  When the local media asked why some previously filed complaints (weeks old) hadn't been acted on, the head Marine guy in Phuket responded that he wasn't aware of those complaints, and that any received in Phuket had to be forwarded first to Bangkok and only could be dealt with by Phuket once they were sent back to Phuket from Bangkok.

Beginning to get the picture???

How were you ripped off?   They quote you a price and its up to you whether you accept it or not.
