jungceylon supermarket big c pharmacy section  ?

I'm looking for safety razors, not cartridge razors, And the supermarkets doesn't have shaving brushes either.

Jungceylon is a mall, not a shop. Which shop at Jungceylon have you seen it at?

Phuket has nothing you need.

Try this store from Lazada. He has stock and you'll get it in a few days delivered to your door.

I bought everything from AliExpress. Lazada doesn't have a good choice and it's too expensive.

Shaving brushes $1-$4, blades $10 for 100.

Lazada too expensive? Prices looked fine for what was there.

What you see on siamwetshave store on Lazada is quality stuff. Made to last.

Some is expensive because it's imported from Germany, they take beards very seriously.

Cheap Alibaba brush will fall apart in no time.

Been using my 30bht AliExpress brush for 2 years, still as good as the day I bought it.

I bought 4 spares at the same time, thinking the same as you.

It's identical to the 630bht 'Bluebeards' brush advertised by SiamWetShave, probably sourced from AliExpress with a x20 markup.

I did order some proraso from wet shave yesterday but wanted to find something a bit cheaper locally since it's my first time shaving old school at home. Just so tired of the drag and ingrown hairs with cartridge razors. Bought and tried a Gillette fusion, but it wasn't worth the money at all.

Well I did find what I wanted today. Spent 4 hours driving around at skincare and barber supplies shops. Should note that barber supplies shop stocks straight razors and brushes, however the brushes are very cheap quality. I did buy a few in different sizes just for the sake of trying them out. 28 baht. The shop was located on the left just before the circle if you drive down the road that goes outside robinson and the big market in Phuket town.

The multi floored shop in the southern end of the newly added complex at central festival stocks safety razors and different types of brushes branded as The Shave Club. The razors comes in silver or black metallic,  seem to be decent quality. Bought the razor and 5 Astra blades for 799 baht.

I'm a wet shave guy as well.  I just use the disposables and canned shaving foam.

I dd use the shaving gear you seek, decades ago, as a younger man.  Then, moved to cartridges, then disposables.

I have seen the gear you are after in some old "mom and pop shops" gathering dust.  Also, packets of blades.  I haven't seen them in the main shopping chains here.

There are plenty for sale on Ebay.  Here's a random one.

I only discovered a couple of years ago there are now 12v electric waterproof razors that you can use with shaving foam, or even under the shower.  Has anyone used one of these?

Tops, by the checkouts.

All the discount soap/shampoo stores have them too.

Converted to throw aways years ago, been using BIC for quite a while, totally satisfied.

Shave during my shower; shampoo hair and face, rinse, apply a little shampoo and water to face shaving area, use BIC, rinse, excellent result.

I use a Watson's cartridge (4 blades I think, and buy a few packs whenever they're on BOGOF or special offer. Allegedly made in the USA they're pretty good. Along with Barbosol, which is cheaper than Gillette and available at Villa, it gives me a very good shave. But a safety razor with brush and soap it ain't!

The blades all the barber shops seem to use are rubbish, made for very light Asian beards. I gave up wet shaves after a haircut years ago. Painful!

The DE blades in the markets suck. Hunt down some Feathers. I bought 10 off the street in Nothanburi for 150B. That will last me till I get back to the USA. In fact, when I leave, if I dont go checked baggage I will have to donate the ones I have left. So be my friend.

Don't think I'll ever need to buy more.

Coconut oil (100Baht for a bottle in 7/11) and a disposable razor.

Wet face, rub in the oil, and keep the razor wet.

Razor lasts 10 days, Coconut oil about 2 months. A really good shave; you will (like me) be a truly "hansum man"!

I use the two blade disposables.  I tried a three blade cartridge a while back, and found it difficult to get up under the nose.  Just too wide.

Are you saying there are now four blade razors?  if so, it's getting ridiculous.

Gillette do a five blade option! I do agree about the nose, takes some precision work!

the difficult thing to find is a decent after shave (not cologne) balm/cream

 5 blades????

What's the advantage of all these extra blades?

Is it, as blade one becomes blunt, blade two cuts, as blade two becomes blunt, blade three cuts etc.  Does this make them last longer?

I'm sorry, you will all hate this, but the Gillette Fusion is the greatest advance in shaving technology in history.  Bitch if you want, but that thing gives a perfect shave with no possibility of a cut in about 30 seconds.  You don't even have to rinse it once when shaving.  In fact it takes longer to put on the shave cream then it does to shave it off and leave a perfect close shave.  It never clogs up and the blades last for months.

Given that the angle of the columella (the skin between the nostrils) is around 90 degrees to the top lip, with 5 blades, how do you get something so wide right up to the base of the columella to shave the whiskers there?

You must have to really pull your nose up, from the nostrils, and stretch the skin to get in there.

I have no doubt on other areas of the face it gives a great shave, as did the 3 blade I tried, but under the nose was a tricky manoeuvre.

I could only imaging the facial contortions needed with a 5 blade.

Mmmm, interesting.  I didn't know about the blade at the back.

So it's actually got 6 blades.  ????

I'll buy one and give it a try soon.

The fusion was the best cartridge I've used but i was let down since I expected more for that kind of money.  And I disagree on the rinsing part, mine get clogged pretty quickly.

This far i am really satisfied with the old safety razors. IMO my grandfathers generation was way ahead of us in terms of efficency and price.

It is a learning curve but i already feel comfortable doing it and the irritation and the dragging of multiple blades is gone.

I can recommend Cadwgawn soap for those that want to support Thai business. It's my first shaving soap so i cant comment on quality but it seems nice for the skin and I love the smell since it smells like Swedish gingerbread. 240 gram for 550 baht.

In terms of accessibility and price in Thailand while still being decent i can recommend Boots freshwood aftershave balm.
