Immigration chief Lt Gen Surachate Kakparn told the press yesterday that an employee at a big state enterprise in Chiang Rai had been arrested in a sex case involving many boys in the northern Thai town.

"Big Joke" was speaking in his role as deputy director of the internet tech crime task force TACTICS who had worked with TICAC, the crimes against children task force.

In custody is a 58 year old man called Ubon. No surname was supplied.

Interpol had contacted their Thai counterparts in December with a lead that indicated that a middle aged man in the north was posting pictures and video of interactions with children on the Dark Web.

Investigations by TICAC led to a house in Chiang Rai.

Lt Gen Surachate said that Ubon was an expert in IT and use of the Dark Web. He had been running a computer games shop out of his house for eight or nine years and many boys played there.

The suspect was only interested in boys and he used the gaming room to entice them into sexual activity.

He said that Ubon was an employee of a big state enterprise.

It's a shame the Thai police didn't get to stop this guy earlier using their own initiative, only acting after a tip-off from Interpol !

This man had nine years of activity at his home/business before being finally stopped!
