A speedboat captain has now been charged over a “reckless act causing injury” but the captain is denying the charge. Two Chinese tourists remain in hospital following Saturday’s collision between the tour boat and a moored small oil tanker just off the east coast of Phuket.

A number of Chinese tourists and boat crew were injured as a result of the speed boat colliding with the small oil tanker.

The Phuket City Police Chief Col Sompong Thiparpakun says, “Nine Chinese tourists have already returned home while two others are still being treated at the hospital. The speedboat captain, 21 year old Apichart Rakkandee, is still in the hospital as well.”

Driving it to school from age 7.....17 of his mates hangin' on forrard..

Mum and dad are very proud of him..

Captain is a typical Thai, someone who rarely, if ever, accepts responsibility for their mistakes. I hope the court finds him guilty, and sends a strong message to other Captains - defensive driving of water craft is essential.

Well well... the CAPTAIN ( :cheesy: ) obviously is a man of great seafaring experience!!!  :clap2:

The guy probably was a local tuk tuk driver before he was promoted and received his "captain's" bars.....

wishful thinking.... next week will be out at sea with another boat, maybe different name but still

Capt. Birdseye,no that should Capt. Noeyes,if he could

not see a small oil tanker.cannot blame the brakes so

wonder what excuse he is going to come up with.....

"the sun was in my eyes" the Prince Philip excuse

an eagle ray flew over my line of vision.

regards worgeordie

Obviously the crew didnt see it also

Lesson 1 avoid small oil tankers lesson 2 avoid large oil tankers lesson 3 avoid anything with the name speed in it here????
