Buri Ram, new immigration office

We went to the "Buri Ram Castle" shops and restaurants, between the stadium and the race track yesterday, and saw a new immigration office behind the KFC.  Being a Saturday, it was shut, but I don't know if it's open other days yet, and if it will replace the office in the government building - seems likely as it's only about a km away.  Anyone heard anything about it?

I believe it’s been mentioned before on T/Visa

I remember a post saying they were going to move to the border at Ban Kruat, but maybe I missed the Buri Ram Castle one.  From the outside, it looked smaller than the current office.  Maybe they're going to split in two - one in town, one at the border?

Anyway, when I need to use it, when I finally retire at the end of March, it'll be easy enough to find out.  Just thought someone might have some more info, and inform anyone else who hadn't known about it.

The IO near the Chang Stadium has been open a while now. I have done a few 90 day reports and entended my permission to stay based on retirement there. It was originally open Mon-Fri and Sat morning but it's been a bit hit & miss lately wrt to opening days/times. AFAIK it is not replacing the main IO at the Town Hall.

Cheers.  I hadn't seen it before.  Guess I should hang around the back of KFC more often.

Buriram Immigration is not moving to Ban Kruat.

The Ban Kruat story is that they are going to have a border checkpoint there that can be used for exit and entry to and from Thailand.

Two immigration offices will remain. One in City Hall and one near the stadium. It seems that the City Hall is the main one and fully staffed during office hours. I have never used the one at the stadium so am not sure about staffing levels there.

Each time I have been to the IO at the Chang Stadium, there has only been one officer on duty. The most customers I have seen there is 3 (including me). For 90 day reports I reckon the main IO at the town hall is the best option due to better staffing. I have always been processed quicker for 90 day reports at the main office, except when I was the only customer at the Chang stadium IO. Just my opinion though.

The Buriram Castle Thai Immigration office has been open for several months. Easy for a 90 day report. However, be aware the supervisor who must sign off on certain Visa annual extension of stay, is not always present. So while your paperwork might be complete, you can not always obtain the visa you desire the same day at that small office.

I was at the Buriram Castle immigration  two weeks ago. Since it open'd I prefer to use the office, I find it a more friendly place that the main office.

I live 5 minuets from the Chong Saitaku crossing (Ban Kruat). I have asked for years at the immigration office when will the crossing be upgraded to a full international crossing. Two weeks ago when I asked I was told after the election, so it could be years before its open.

Any idea when that will happen? I know there is already a checkpoint there but it is not 'full service', and there is a resort/casino development on the Cambodian side.
