The gas tank on my motorbike was scratched rather badly. I need to have it resprayed. I have fixed the scratch (the tank is smooth), but need someone who can match the paint and do a good paint job. It is flat "black", but is actually more of a dark gray. Any suggestions of who/where I can take my bike to get the tank painted? If not too expensive, I might opt to have the tank and fenders painted candy apple red. Thanks. FP

Not quite with you what do you want mat metallic dark grey tank respray or a Candy red one.

The tank is mat metallic dark gray, so just respraying the area that is damaged should be the easiest and cheapest fix. But if it would not be a lot more money, since I need to get the tank resprayed anyway, I would opt to get the color of the bike changed to red, which would include the tank and 2 fenders. It is a matter of cost. If, for example, the respray of the tank in flat dark gray is B1500, and to do the tank and 2 fenders in red is B3000, I'll go with the red. But if the cost of the red tank and fenders is B10,000, I'll just do the tank in flat dark gray and keep the color as it is. Hope that is clear. I expect a decent shop could do either, so the choice of color really shouldn't be a factor in finding someone that can respray the tank. What I ultimately decide to do will depend on the shop's price for the work. :jap:

Just spraying part is not the way the whole tank should be sprayed.

Spraying costs are not a problem where I live carried out in a professional manner but you take parts off and hand them in, those prices are a over the top farangie rip off price in Pattaya.

Surely you know bikers in Pattaya who could point you the right direction.

Full tank sprayed 400 baht, fenders ( mudguards) 200 baht whatever the flinging colour.

I don't disagree with your post. However, if I knew any "bikers in Pattaya who could point you the right direction" I would have asked them rather than asking for directions here..... I had considered going to Bike Week which ended on the 16th thinking that someone there would surely do paint work or know someone that does, but reviews said it was dismal, so I avoided it. Hoping that someone here can give me a name/shop.

I dunno.

I live in Nakon Nowhere, and my favoured painter is an old boy, retirement age who mainly does auto work.

He is very good, and as one of his son's is a bike drag racer and tuner, he gets a lot of bike related work thru his shop.

A one colour petrol tank is never less than 1000, and mudguards (fenders in 'mercan) are never less than 500 each.

A custom paint job in the city from a specialist will run 5k up for a tank & guards, ie a Ducati Monster Corse Tri-colour 3 colour design.

Show quality.

Thanks. I drove by his shop yesterday and he never crossed my mind for painting. His prices tend to be over the top, but I will ask.
