TZM 150. Runs. Complete. With Book

????

Thought of doing something similar myself.

They are cheap enough, plenty around and spares and knowledge is still about.

I would have to ditch the plastic and the seat.

Buy a custom seat made here or a fibreglass jobbie from the States, std round headlight, one off top yoke with straight Vincent type bars and viola after a full rebuild.

My Thai mate that builds KRR's reckons about 30k for a finished bike inc buying it, stripping, rebuilding, new internals, electrics, paint and wheels.

Which is not a lot of money per smiles...

Look fwd to your updates.

Guy wants 25K. I offered 20K.

Is complete but I will do a complete strip, new wiring, replace all engine internals, decoke the silencer and expansion chamber.

UTube shows 180K at 10K RPM

I wont ride it much - be like a monkey F a football as I am 1.9M and too F old to crouch for long.

Something to do. And it has not been "Modified" with exception of footpegs is all stock.

Old thread here - R model not M but similar. 25-30 HP 125kg - better than my CRF

Is this place on the 108 road , just North of Hang Dong.  These bikes are fun. Good luck.

Wondering where do you guys find spare parts (especially engine / electrics) for these bikes ?

I usually order on Impex Japan which just have everything available as long as you know your spare part number, but is there something similar in Thailand ?

Every city and large market town will have a mom'n'pop distributor shop. What they don't have in stock, they can order.

Pretty much everything is still available.

Here in TH.

Some very knowledgeable 2T shop owners & mechanics out there.

TZM 150.

Note the frame compared to the R.

Substantial.

As above ...

Just Downloaded both a parts manual and service manual.

Been thinking - as I will sell it when complete - baring a few rips up thru the gears -

What do you think of yellow paint - keep the fairing - with Yamaha speed blocks ?

Never offered stock - but one glance and everyone will know it is from the tuning forks

Just remember the thai model 150 tzm will never perform right unless you have the race/aftermarket ecu.

Ain't found one of those yet - but the parts search will wait until teardown complete

1. No, don't sell it.

2. Great idea, there is no better colour for any Yamaha than yellow, with a bit of black & white, and the speed blocks.

   Only way forward man.

Something like this - no number, no decals, no Yamaha ...

Just the color scheme ...

Love the 150cc made in Thailand 2 strokes, still quite a few available at affordably prices, fun to ride and work on and as Thaiguzzi states easy to get parts at just about every local shop. As far as I know only Yamaha's TZR/TZM 2t oilpumps and powervalve servo's are hard to find new.

In fact the TZM is actually not that small and quite comfy to ride, even for a tall guy (I'm 1.86/82kg) totally stock I can reach a 185km/h indicated (around 160 real I guess)

I bought a New Old stock TZM150 back in 2012 and still own it, not use it a lot but it's fun to keep around for the occasional ride. Funny to see my old TZR thread, also still have that bike and after I finish on my current project ( a early 90's Kawasaki ZXR250 4 inline) going to redo that one. Always nice to have a project bike going.

OP: good luck with your project and keep us updated. and yes: black and yellow would be sweet ????

Ahh the Yam trials bike above; just took me right back to being 10 years old and learning to ride my first bike with gears - my mates Yamaha TY80cc Trails bike (baby bro of that) also few years later my mate used to sneak out on his old mans XT500 lol white & red block yam paint scheme aka Kenny Roberts, we all used to have a doo on it his dad would have killed the lot of us if he knew ????

All them bikes above look cool, yeah the speed blocks make the yams look lush!

Thanx.

The top two photos are twinshockers from my collection of internet pics.

One American and one Dutch i think.

The bottom one is one of my two ty 250 mono's.

They currently look like this, now with one piece fibreglass tank seat shelter units on.

When I just viewed your post, the ads on the side of the screen were conclusive. Those bikes are cool.  The MIB can't stop staring at them, and Canada gave them a thumbs up.
