PHUKET: Phuket Provincial Narcotics Suppression Division announced at a press conference yesterday (April 5) that they have arrested five suspects and seized a total of 1,942 methamphetamine pills (ya bah) and 126.58 grams of crystal methamphetamine (ya ice) in five separate drug busts.

The Head of the Narcotics Suppression Division at Phuket Provincial Police Maj Phichit Thongtor led a team of drugs-suppression officers to Thalang and Phuket Town after receiving a tip-off that drug dealers were operating in those areas.

Yaowarat Seaton, 44, was found with 120.65g of crystal meth in Moo 1, Wichit. She is currently being held at Wichit Police Station pending further investigation.

Getting to be more like the west every day, more and more useless arrests. They also just arrested some guy who was involved in providing palliative marijuana to the dying, proving my point that just because they opened the gate for pharma doesn't mean they're going to get reasonable about recreational.

Since when is arresting street dealers "useless"?  It seems that no matter what the Thai police do, somebody on this forum will bash them.

Would have been 50 Nigerians but BJ is on a sabbatical ????

Not bashing the police in the least, they're just following orders. It's the actions I find useless and you would have to be living on another planet to think the war on drugs is working. Unless the authorities world wide deal with this bs as a medical/social issue this is never going to stop. You cannot arrest this problem away and there isn't enough prisons anyway (ask the Americans how all that's working out). Until all the dinosaurs with their lack of cognitive thinking die off, we keep going round and round..

We'll probably see a lot more in the next few weeks because they've been told to get out and meet quotas.
