Lost UK passport , visa extension due soon

Ok so Ive some how stupidly lost my passport . I know what to do in regards to getting a new passport but I have a visa extension coming up very soon, begging of may. What happens if my new passport doesn’t arrive in time ? Will I be classed as overstay? Am I screwed ?

The chances are good that your new passport will arrive in time as long as you do not delay a day in making the application.

 

If it does get within three or four days of your permission to stay expiring, visit your immigration office (with the police report about the lost passport) and discuss the situation with them. There will be a solution that does not mean an overstay, but you may need to get an emergency travel document from the British Embassy if immigration will not provide another solution.

If you choose to stay in the country, and not leave, you will be on overstay until a new extension is granted. When you eventually apply for the extension you will have to pay 500 baht for every day you apply late, plus the exertion application fee.

Luckily there's no backlogs in the UK at the moment, passports are being sent out within a few days. Recent reports of VFS turnaround times have indicated around 10 or 12 days on a straightforward application.

Is a British emergency passport considered as a new passport after you lose the full one?

It is valid for a year. The only restriction on it is where you can travel to that has to be shown on it.

You can apply for extensions and etc at immigration with it.

I thought the emergency passport is only good for one trip. I recall that I had my passport stolen in 2012 while I was on leave in Philippines from working in Kenya. I got an emergency passport to return to Kenya and applied for a passport there, but it wasn't ready for me when I left Kenya and had to get another emergency one to return to Philippines. I also believe there is a limit to how many emergency passports you can have issued in a year, I think 3.

After my girlfriend,washed my passport,i have 4 paper copies of my passport,important pages,and tablet backup,makes life lot easier,ok to talk in "hindsight" but good for future mishaps

How much does it cost to get visa transfered onto the new passport ? Does anyone know ? And will I still be charged overstay if I have a police report saying it was lost and show them I have applied for a new passport ?

There is usually no charge to transfer your current permission to stay (plus any extensions) to a new passport. (Visas are not transferred.)

 

If you get the stamps transferred, and apply for an extension, before your current permission to stay expires, there is no overstay. If you apply for an extension after your current permission to stay has expired, you will have an overstay with the appropriate penalties. Immigration is not particularly interested in the reasons for the overstay.

Not correct. It is valid for as many trips as you specify when you apply, it can be one or several.
