With the two week concussion protocol he may get it down to three.

It will come down to how the AFL will make the most revenue for the finals.

The same happened with North's Comben on the weekend but i haven't seen Ugle-Hagans name pop up.

Ben Long also tried one on Jake Lever but Lever had awareness.

Reckon the AFL will ask for 6, Port will ask for 4 and he will get 5.

I'm with Fevola's comments it was fair and square but we would be in the minority.

I think everyone has seen the bump and he is looking back over his shoulder to take the ball leaving himself open.

This was the Comben one as not many probably watch North.

Watch the head impact.

Izak Rankine got 4 weeks for this and Houston's was worse.

Anytime it's done without the ball in a players hands it is a cowards act.

Really sad news.

Well Houston got 5,

Ugle-Hagan nothing.

Didn't realise Gleeson was now the judge after being prosecutor all those years.

Time to move on and start watching Ang and his Hotspurs.

What did Ugle-Hagan do?

I won't harp on🤣 but it is in the video i posted in an above post.

Out with concussion this week.

Are they serious or not.

Common sense would say just make anyone under 25 wear a helmet.

Then i wouldn't mind their decisions.

There are currently 13 players out for concussion.

Didn't think there was anything in that TBH.

The amount of players retiring early due to concussion is just increasing.

Recently, we've lost Brad Sheppard, Daniel Venables and now it looks like Luke Edwards might go as well.

Besides a concussion with a direct hit to the head it was a football act, play on i agree as their is two rules.

Tactics from coaches still exist

IMHO ugle-hagan took comben out knowing it was an oppurtunity to take out the tall defender to help the teams cause.

No doubt Houston on Rankine was the same.

Both incidents were young players lacking awareness.

Comben only had himself to blame, where as Rankine can blame his team mate after receiving a HOSPITAL knock on from Keane.

So one is deemed acceptable and one Dirty exception being Houston's technique was perfect, side on,crouched and no head contact.

Commentators say it was not a good look for the game.

Well enjoy your tackling smashing defenceless players with their arms pin into the turf.

That's the way the game is heading.

Tassie will need 60 players on their list when they start.

He did nothing wrong Will.   Running in for the marking contest, arms out front with his eyes firmly on the prune.   Hardly had a millisecond to pull out with the oncoming player bolting in.   Combem was brave, but paid a hefty price.

I suggested something to that effect about five years ago, and almost got laughed off the forum.   There are claims by a select few with AFL connections that helmets do sweet FA to prevent head injuries.    Maybe they have never investigated a bicycle collision and scraped human brain matter off the bitumen.

I guess it depends on the type of helmet, I understand in the Yank NFL they use their helmets as a battering ram.

The science into concussion has come a long way since Jordan Lewis was knocked out stony cold in about 2010, and then came back on to the field 30 minutes later.

The AFL knows it is in trouble.   Very difficult to sanitize the game too much, coz the hard contact is wot makes footy so exciting and unique, but the league is very aware of the OH & S responsibilities it has to the employees.   Travis Tuck and Danny Frawley and their battles with head injuries are never far from the discussion.    Compulsory helmets would be a start.

The trickle of recent civil injury lawsuits that have landed on the CEO's desk will soon become a tsunami.   Ambulance chasers might be circling that Norf player already for a big compo payout.

Wonder how the Boxing Federation is dealing with issues such as this when the aim of the sport is....to....knock....your....opponent....out.

Helmets will have to come eventually.

Now that was brutal on Lewis,i bet the guy who kicked it wasn't on his christmas card list.

Not sure what boxing do exactly but did read Tim Tyzsu had to have a lengthy period off after his title fight loss.

The best the AFL can come up with at the moment is,the tackler must SLOW DOWN and tackle in an upright position.

So did I. But  Freo went down and Carlton made the 8.

Carlton V Brisbane in Brisbane  will be a hard game Radar. Goodluck.

Well Gang

Sorry for the late reply.

In what was probably the best closest/season in the history of the AFL, it went right down to the last game.

As you can see by the ladder, Rip stormed home to pip Radar with an amazing 8.

Well done on getting the trophy this year Rip.

It's been sent to you via EMS.

Commiserations to Radar, but at least he has some joy with his beloved Blue Baggers scraping into the finals.

Rip will be happy with Sydney finishing on top as will Scea with Port finishing second

Well that's it for another year of tipping guys.

Thanks to all of you for participating.

Until next time.

PS You can put forward your tips for the finals if you wish.

I watched a bit online of the kids playing for my old club in the South Aussie bush this week, I think under 14s, helmets everywhere.

Thanks  Will for the effort each week. It is great to see.  Thanks to Chook for setting up the comp.

Thanks Scea it was a great year.

You may have pre-ejaculated with the tipping ladder Will.   Check again.

Anyway, splendid effort RIP with your win.   If my research is correct, you got the weekly chokkies only once during the season, so you also get the BP Quiet Achiever award for consistency.

Thanks to all participants.   Should be a cracking finals series.

Thanks Radar.

Looks like it was still updating.

Never mind, there's only one winner.

My tips for the finals:

Gws

Port

Brisbane

Hawks

Love it with the cars parked around the oval.

Plenty of beeps when goals are scored.
