Potable Water Dispenser

Featured Replies

In our village the authorities have recently installed a water dispenser. Basically it's a hut with large tanks, pipes and meters inside. One places your container under the spigot and for the princely sum of 5 baht the machine delivers 20 litres of water.

This water is half the price of the potable water delivered by the numerous vans around the district. I dare say many of the money concious locals will use it. Personally I can't be fagged, carrying 2o litres in this heat and will pay the extra 5 baht to have the bottles delivered.

Any other village have this set up?

They are not only in villages, but also spread around the city as well. While new, these things are great. They provide reeeeeally clean water. But with most things in thailand, they are not maintained and after a year or so, the water still appears clean, but its not. The filters dont seem to get maintained.

We used to use the local village one, guy used to deliver it to us for 10 baht each, however we could smell what seemed like petrol or diesel and complained, nothing got done so we went to the neighbouring village, happy as, we call, they deliver for 10 baht per bottle in total.

Further to my original OP about this brand new dispenser I passed it yesterday only to see that it had a sign 'out of order'. Wow a whole 10 days of operation, is this a Thai record?
