You can buy them (two varieties) in Boots stores starting at around 1600 baht, or at least that is what mine cost, and have had it a few years without any problems.

I bought a standard upper-arm cuff type at Fascino for myself for around the same cost as the above. I also bought a wrist-cuff type at Walgreens in the US for when I'm traveling. Both work well and the results are comparable.

Omron is a good brand, available most everywhere, different models with different features, memory, etc...I would recommend the arm cuff arrangement as I have heard a lot of folks complain about the accuracy of wrist cuffs...I'm on my second Omron machine, the first one served well for about 7 years, packed it around to work assignments in the middle east and SE Asia...

Had an Omron cost around bht 2500 but it stopped working, sent it back and they said it needed a new board, cost was almost same as new unit, so bought a cuff model from Lazada  for around B550  works fine and gives same readings as the more expensive Omron, dont see a brand name on it just model JZK-002r

Got the same unit. Use it at least twice a day. Had it for years. No problems.

I have an Omron one and I guess it saved my life I never

knew I had irregular heartbeat till I bought the Omron one

I had my heart reset (cardio version) after I found out

the best investment I ever made

I check BP usually to see how it's responding to the medication about 4 x per week...if I can keep things below 150/80 I reckon that I'm doing OK...I'm 68 y.o. and have been a type 2 diabetic for about 20 years...I've read that ye can't expect to maintain 120/70 when yer older...

Up to you depending on how concerned you are. For best results try to test at around the same time/times each day. Plenty of instructions come with the Omron models but basics are rest for five minutes before taking a reading, feet flat on the floor, sit up straight, no talking, don't take readings right after eating, showering or going to the toilet. If you need to repeat a reading wait three minutes etc. etc.

I check 2-3x a day.

Around 85/65 in the morning up to 100/75 by the evening.

I take pills in the evening before bed, they appear to wear off throughout the next day.

As far as I can see, they're all the same so why pay more?

Have same for back up and seems to be good - but normal reading for pumping blood pressure is a bit higher than Omron.  Tried a wrist model unit one time and never worked right.

Why not? I'm 70 and 1120/80 according to my Omron.

When did you guys start monitoring your blood pressure? mine is always in the ideal range when tested, but the other day following a dog bite and a stressful girl experience it was high in emergency ward, not checked it since

I have 2 Omrons and 2 watches that check my pulse and BP.  I check to make sure my meds are working.

That is normal experience for many people - often called white coat effect.  In my case it can easily increase my blood pressure 40 points or more.  You have to take readings when relaxed at home to really know what is normal.

I started monitoring mine (and temperature) two weeks back when I developed a problem that required BP lowering meds and that might lead to sepsis.

I use a Microlife BP 3AP1-3E and I take my BP every day with 5 readings then take the middle one. If I have been out working I take it when I come in and another set perhaps an hour later.

All the readings are different so I pick the middle one as my target figure.

I ahve been doing it since 2006 when I had surgery for 2 part blocked arteries.

I started when I went to a hospital dental clinic one day at which the nurse took my blood pressure and then asked me if I felt alright.

Since then I have been on pills to lower my blood pressure, and statins, and a daily aspirin for good luck.

I must be honest and say that these days I hardly ever check my own blood pressure as it gets checked two or three times a year at the same hospital - where it is always the same - and I now know from experience what it feels like when it is a bit high. The combination of pills that I take has put my BP down to an average level for my age and weight, so I dont worry about it too much.

It's a bit hit and miss.  If you buy in a shop, try to test it out against another model or two. I think one could give you a rough working figure accurate to within about 10 points hopefully.  In fact adding that to your figures might be a good idea anyway since it's difficult to know how to accurately take a reading.

Me too, seems to have been pretty reliable

I have an app, BP Watch (imaginative eh?), into which I can put up to 4 readings a day, but I just do am & pm. It shows averages over whatever period you want. Easy & free.

Today we went to big c and bought the Omron Hem7121

looks good and works fine i guess.

The last time i had my bp checked in the clinic it was 136/86

was a bit high that is why i decided i should keep an eye on it.

took a few readings today and average 117/76.

happy with that.

We all get older and we all take our vehicles for maitenance to the garage but sometimes we forget we also put on a lot of miles.
