From razzmatazz to sneaking in! Big Joke sidesteps press to start new role

There is likely more going on behind the scenes than we are aware. Perhaps he stepped on some very big toes or perhaps there is a desire to get him put of the limelight to allow him to work on a bigger project unnoticed which is, and has been, largely impossible. He's not that old, we'll likely see him again.

Okay so they’re saying he “snuck into work” without anybody seeing him in person publicly?  Like a ghost?  And everyone actually believes that?  Seriously does everyone actually believe that?  Did he sneak back into the country as well without being seen in person at the airport?  If so his nickname should be the boogeyman.

He’s still in the United States he defected and they’re just making sh!$ up in hopes this story will fade out of the public eye and the news media and eventually it will as soon as the next big story changes the news cycle.  The circumstances are embarrassing to the current government here, and neither country is going to confirm or deny anything, Thailand won’t because it’s too embarrassing and the United States won’t out of respect because we are still allies.  Is there any actual evidence at all that he’s even back in Thailand???

I wonder how much a lieutenant general behind a desk makes a month. But for him, i guess it was all about the fame...

Most badged, armed, uniformed goons on the street are just soldiers supporting the police state policies of the mob bosses. Real business gets taken care of behind the desks, behind the computer screens, and in the dark hallways of corruption.

Big Joke actually is a good man and he publicly helped Thailand clean things up some. As he settles into his more discreet role, business will be taken care of.

They get the wings for proving they can use an escalator and jump before the last step hits the bottom.i always wonder what these thai generals do when they have to co-ordinate with real generals on military exercises.

All of those commenting on this have any personal knowledge of the man, or is it all hearsay and gossip?

You may not like some of the decisions made, but I am sure they were not made by him alone,

Any proof of him being corrupt ? Produce the evidence

As much as Mr. Big Joke enjoys photo opts, does anyone else find it strange there are no photos of him during his vacation to the US?  It seems to me, someone is being a little less than honest about this trip to America. ????

Yea, he’s not being shunned for something ‘good’ he did. This is clearly a demotion and punishment. This typically happens when you’ve been up to no good.

But we have not been given any evidence of wrong doing, perhaps he was being too efficient and treading on some powerful toes.

Yes, he got to the top by being honest and genuinely cracking down on corruption. He also found himself get to the bottom for continuing to do exactly the same thing. That’s a real paradox.

Genuine police officers who want to rid Thailand of corruption aren’t given posts like head of immigration, etc. Any talk of coming down on corruption is lip service. That’s all. Cases of corruption are cherry picked.

So you know for a proven fact that he is corrupt? Please share.

Where did I say I knew for a fact?

Big Joke’s demise isn’t indicative of something good he’s done. It’s indicative of something bad.

So pure speculation then

I like him and most of what he did over the last couple of years. I think that Thailand needs more people like him in charge.

Government spokeswoman Phatcharaporn Inseeyong confirmed that Surachate had presented himself for duty as a special adviser in the PM's office yesterday morning.

His arrival - expected to be a big media event and perhaps throw some light on the reasons for the Lt-Gen's fall from grace - turned out to be a damp squib.

Surachate will be advising on matters relating to public development at first, said the spokeswoman. After a period of time other duties may be forthcoming that suit the Lt-Gen's skill se

Yes, when someone is demoted and people say that said person must have done something wrong, it’s pure speculation.

Promotion = somebody does something good

Demotion = someone does something good or bad 50/50.

They got real quiet about this lately what happened I thought this was big news?  So still no one has laid eyes on him “at his new job actually inside Thailand” yet?  No one has seen him at work or knows anything except what they tell the cameras.  So how does that work exactly?  Does he “sneak in” to work every day and no one outside notices?  Seriously, still no actual evidence that he’s even back in the country and not still in the United States? And everyone actually believes that really?

Does anyone at all realize that he defected to the United States?  Obviously the United States isn’t gonna confirm that because we’re still allies, and Thailand isn’t going to confirm it either because it’s embarrassing.  He was providing information about the current government related to the election to the United States and he got caught collaborating with a foreign power ally or not it’s still espionage.  So he went on vacation before taking over his “new job” and he disappeared and now he’s probably living in some cabin on a lake somewhere in the United States.

But seriously 3 days later after he supposedly “snuck into work” there’s still no sign of him?  And suddenly no more speculation in the media every 5 minutes and posting articles about it on this site?  Can anyone actually offer any proof at all that he’s even back in Thailand at least?  Still waiting to see the next article about his “new duties at his new job” and about how he’s doing “at work” lol.  Also didn’t anyone notice that no one even saw him reentering the country at the airport?  Why suddenly a vacation to the United States in the middle of all this?

It is obvious, Mr. Big Joke didn't leave Thailand, and isn't working in some obscure office.  If he is lucky, he is experiencing house arrest.  Personally, I believe his detention is a little more serious.

Yeah well most Thai’s don’t know the truth about things that go on behind the scenes. This would not be the first time either. It’s only news because he made himself such a high profile public figure in the news media. They probably used his own vanity and ideology to recruit him in the first place.
