I have just tried to take 10.000 Bt from ATM. I did everything as usual. Then notice came up which said "Please Take Your Money'.

I waited, card came out, slip came out confirming 10.000Bt withdrawal. but no money.

What should be the next step

I then checked my account online, and it confirms 10.000Bt withdrawn.

You can report it to your bank, but usually this will correct itself in a week or so, after the machine is serviced and they find the balance inside.

Unless of course the machine was tampered with, you did check the person hovering behind you didn't get it?

There was no one near me.

Ohh dear....you should note down the ATM machine number and take the slip to the nearest bank branch for that ATM..tell them what happened...they can get the money in the ATM counted to see if it coincides with what should be in there...good luck.

I have got the slip, but it is Saturday and the banks are closed, thanks for the good wishes.

Make a note of bank ATM ID no on machine, notify your nearest bank branch with copy of receipt transaction and they should be able the resolve the issue.. The next time the ATM is refilled and balance check should be over your 10k, or more if others have also had problems..

Also is it possible that someone has jammed up the cash dispenser, waiting for some victims, and unjam and take your money after you've left the ATM?? Not sure if possible..

If that was the case, would the bank refund me? Or is that a stupid question.

Banks are open in all the shopping malls Saturday and Sunday (and Rimping MeeChok).

If you are near a large mall, usually those banks are open on Saturday and even Sunday.

Yesterday a Bangkok Bank ibanking transfer of almost Bt11K failed to process properly. Money deducted from my account but transfer failed as noted in the ibanking log. I also confirmed the recipient with a Kbank acct didn't receive the funds.

Called the problem into Bangkok Bank...got a case number issued. Bangkok Bank rep also said yesterday their ibanking was having problems. Rep said they will contact me by 7pm today/Saturday with an update...I'm not holding my breath. Money still not credited back to my acct as of this post but it's been less than 24 hrs since reporting the problem.

Expect I'll be visiting my home branch Monday to discuss the failed transfer...ensure correction is being worked.

No good to me, I like about 60 Ks from a shopping mall.

Perhaps you should have waited for the next customer to the ATM, and see what happened to him/her.

I thought about that, but I would probably wait all day for someone to use the only BB atm in the village.

My wife did everything for me regarding the bank, and as the first posts says, I will know in about a week.

But I have had so much incompetence in Thailand, dealing with banks and other financial services and not all of it from Thais I might add, so I will just have to wait and see.

Same thing happened to me. It was back in my account the next day. Bangkok Bank.

Bangkok Bank refunded the failed transfer to my account a little after 5pm today.  Took exactly 30 hours for the funds to be refunded.   Now to try the the transfer again.

Edit: Transfer attempted again---success this time.

Would it not be obvious that you go back to the bank when it is open and report it?

On the subject, if you can read Thai , there is usually a notice on the screen that says in Thai   ' Be careful when entering your number as there are gangs of foreigners who will steal your number '

Or words to that effect. Find it amusing that the implication is that Thais don't also do this.

Foreigners are guilty of all the world's transgressions. After living here awhile you learn that. We are very bad people.

Had the same problem a few times over the years. A phone call to the number on the back of the card and it’s all credited back within the next couple of days. I didn’t even bother calling the last time and it was automatically re-credited the next working day.

I had a similar experience a few years ago, 20 000B seem to be lost. I went to the bank and was told that "remote" machines sometimes run out of money????, but it'll correct itself. And it did. After that, I always do my withdrawals in ATMs inside a bank.

So you will no doubt have to inconvenience yourself (as the vast majority of atm's are outside) just because you had ONE bad experience which is very unlikely to happen again? Is this a rule by which you live your life, one mistake and that's your lot, no second chances?

This has happened to me as well but at a different bank, I was withdrawing funds from my German account. Online banking showed that the amount had been withdrawn but no money had come out of the ATM. A lot of confusion at first, the bank told me that my German bank was responsible for demanding the money back from the Thai bank and that I could do nothing myself. I wrote an email explaining the situation to my German bank but they had no idea about how to officially demand payment from a foreign bank and advised me to contact the banks head office which I did. They were aware of 8 incidents where money was to have been withdrawn from foreign banks but although the money was deducted from the accounts no payment was made, a computer glitch, I had to fill out a form and the money was returned to my account, took two weeks though.

Perhaps i wouldn't be as nervous as the last time, if it happened again.  After all, i got my money back.

That said, we live next to a big mall with plenty of banks, that's were i do the majority of my withdrawals. I believe this machines are in less risk of problems and scams. And i admit, i'm still bit paranoid when it comes to ATM machines.????

Fair enough, thanks for the adult response and not throwing your toys out the pram like the majority on here would have.
