The poor chap obviously had his reasons. We all have our limits, I hope you never find yours.

i will not, im made of stronger stuff. however i do agree with you, my point is why do it in such a public place, seeing that sort of thing could have serious knock on effects in peoples lives. he could of topped himself in private.

In Japan where suicide is common, they actually have common suicide spots listed such as the scary Aokigahara Forest (Sea of Trees as in the movie ) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aokigahara.

Sometimes they are in picturesque places such as  Kegon Falls,

Scary but true unfortunately.

You are assuming that people who are suicidal have clear rational thoughts. They do not. Try and get your head around that.

Suicides are mostly done in lonely places away from the eyes of others. Those that are attempted in public are typically cries for help or attention which often dont succeed. The rooftop and public location jumps we hear so much about in thailand are suspect imo.

How do they know he was not pushed over the railing?  These news articles are very short on facts....

A simple statement of "witnesses observed" or "CCTV captured video of" would add some validity to the story

On another forums it mentions witness statements which indicated he jumped.

Agreed and well noted by grifbel.

This man had a "choice," a choice he made that rests with ONLY him and his god...we and our opinions are completely irrelevant because he cannot hear them.

Another sad Pattaya tale. Remember he was a cute little baby once, with a mother and a father, who would never have imagined that this is where he’d end up. Mental illness is real and this is pretty tragic.

Really the best post here.

He either had health problems that was too much to live with, or mental health issues like depression, hope he’s in a better place now. Apparently death is not the end.

Or visa issues ...

He's in a better place now? Do you mean TERMINAL 21? (Pun intended.)

Whether death is the end or not is a matter of faith but I think in some faiths offing yourself isn't so well rewarded.

Authorities in every country should allow places where people can go to commit suicide rather than forcing them to jump or hang or something else horrible

Or hospitals where someone can painlessly "check out" and leave their organs for transplants.

In Waikiki Beach Hawaii, Hotels have installed "Tourist Catch Nets" .  Seems the area near the King's Statue is a popular place for suicides................

I'm not suicidal, but I'd love to have the balls big enough to test those out; the thrill must be amazing.

Seriously, why all the jumping... must be terrifying on the way down plus it is traumatic to the witnesses. Why not just OD. I often think that the method in Soylent Green would be best... surround yourself with positive images and music of your choice, then sleep......

Nitrogen. Painless. Legally available.

Why would some one jump INSIDE a mall?

Well, it worked!

Possibly a bit of a showman.

Seriously, it's rather depressing isn't it?

Obviously you don't judge with any measure of rationality since suicide is completely irrational; thus, comments along the lines of 'I don't understand why anyone would......' are really not very helpful.

no, suicide can be entirely rational,

if cons with being alive outweigh pros.

try out unbearable pain a couple of years and then we can talk about rationality

I tried it for a couple of days when I had appendicitis; I must admit when I was finally wheeled to the theatre I really didn't much fancy waking up again.  So, I know what you mean.

Funnily enough I was going to add that to my submission- I should have done and then I wouldn't have been shot right between the eyes with friendly fire????????
