Re-entry permit question

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I will be going going on a trip out of Thailand within the next couple of months. Unfortunately, my return flight is on the same day that my Non-Immigrant O visa (60 day extension) expires, this was unavoidable.

  1. Is getting a re-entry permit worth it/even possible?
  2. Is my only option cancelling my visa by leaving and coming back in on a visa exemption, and then proceeding to do a visa run within the 30 day exemption?
  3. Any other ideas?

Thanks a lot guys.

1. It would not be worth getting one if you will be entering on the day it expires.

2. If you entere and a  30 day visa exempt entry you could extend it for 30 days. Or apply for a 60 day extension of it.

3. Is there any chance that you could apply for another non-o visa while out of the country to use for entry.

I will not be able to apply for one once out of the country.  So option 2 it is. Thanks for the input Ubonjoe.

Another option would be to try to do a one-year extension+re-entry permit before you leave.

OP ...I vote for above BritTim option if your plan is to live here. Get on your bike and obtain 12 month extension if you have time. Gives you more options when you return.
