The title says it all.

I am selling 2 Chonburi registered bikes in the near future. I will be doing the transfers at Sri Racha or Pattaya Land Transport Office. What are the latest reports from these Chonburi offices in regards to the seller requiring a certificate of residence or not? I know the buyer, if a foreigner, will need one or a work permit but I am only concerned about the seller.

Thanks in advance for any info.

I'm 90% sure you'll need a residence certificate...you can get them same day (1/2 hour) from Jomtien

300 baht each.

There are also reports that Chonburi doesn't except yellow books  and that the latest work permits don't show your address (and or show the "wrong" language  T.I.T  :w00t:  )

Please do report back here  with your experience at the (Chonburi province )

Department of Land Transportation  whichever one you use.

Well, I just asked at Sri Racha Land Transport Office.

The guy there on the "Transfership of Ownership" desk (desk 2) says it is not necessary. Yippee! He said I would need copies of passport (the normal : Details page, visa sticker, entry stamp, TM6) but no need for letter as seller. He also gave me 2 forms, One is Power of Attorney (don't plan to use this but you never know) and the other is the Transfer of Ownership form.

The sale won't be for a few weeks but I wanted to get my ducks in a row. Certificate of Residence requires a TM30. TM30 requires a trip to Jomtien. So everything has to be planned in advance. So hopefully I have saved myself two trips to Jomtien.

Also, if anybody is sick of Jomtien Land Transport Office, I would recommend Sri Racha for vehicle registration issues. It is efficient and easy to get to. Downstairs is registration documents and tax.

Upstairs, on the other hand, is driving licences. The woman there could be described as rude to the point of abusive. I would give that a miss.

You mean the Pattaya/Barnglamug  Land transportation office  next to the regents School ?

I am now shortly to do the transfer.

Is the transfer tax 0.5% or 5% of the assessed value + 105 Baht in fixed fees? I am getting conflicting information.

So, I have recently sold 2 vehicles. Both were transferred using the method in which seller and buyer both attend the Land Transport Office for the transfer of ownership.

I discovered an anomaly that may be of use to Chonburi foreigners. If, as a seller, you use Pattaya Land Transport Office, you need a certificate of residence. At Sri Racha, you definitely do not. That means for the seller, a definite saving of 300 Baht plus the cost of a trip to Jomtien. For me that is a 60 km round trip. And if you throw in a TM30 fine of 1600 Baht which often accompanies a certificate of residence, that is 1900 Baht + cost of trip to Jomtien. So, for me, it was a no-brainer to use Sri Racha.

Secondly, for the buyer, Sri Racha allows a certificate of residence or work permit. Pattaya wants a certificate of residence. Bearing in mind, Jomtien Immigration also need copies of the log book before issuing a certificate of residence, Sri Racha is the obvious choice for the vehicle buyer with a work permit.

So, hopefully this information will help those in Chonburi who wish to transfer a vehicle with the least expense and hassle.

Ok thanks for the good information...can you tell me if the vehicles you sold had Chonburi number plates ? As far as I know if you have other province plates you have to go to The Chonburi DLT because they are the only ones who will do the change of province and number plates.

Yes, both the vehicles I sold had Chonburi plates.
