Kindergarten child raped by fellow pupils in Ubon school

Sanook reported on an alarming case from a school in Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand's north east. 

 

A grandfather and grandmother, guardians of a female child in the third year of kindergarten, said their granddaughter was raped by three boys in the school toilets in December. 

 

The school initially denied it happened then changed their tune and offered 10,000 baht hush money. 

 

The grandparents have a hospital report that said the little girl was raped. Now six months after the incident they are seeking full justice. 

 

Back in December of last year the grandparents noticed blood on the leg of the little girl and blood flowing from her vagina. They took her to hospital where doctors confirmed she had been penetrated. 

 

The little girl told them that after lunch she had gone to the toilet. Two fellow kindergarten boys from her class and a boy from P2 (the second year of primary and perhaps aged about 7) who were standing by some trees followed her in.

 

The two kindergarten boys then sexually assaulted her. 

 

The grandparents said at first the school did nothing. They said it was impossible that such a thing could happen as they looked after the children well at the school. 

 

They went so far as to blame the grandparents for trying to defame the school and get money. 

 

However, when the hospital report was presented to them they changed their mind. They apologized and offered the family 10,000 on the condition they were not reported. 

 

They said it could affect their funding, reported Sanook. 

 

The case ended up with the public prosecutor but the boys concerned could not be prosecuted as they were under 10 years old. 

 

Now the matter has featured on a social justice page on Facebook as the family of the little girl seek proper compensation and restitution from the families of those responsible.

Wow! That's truly shocking. Shame on the school for trying to cover it up. Given the ages of the boys involved, I am not sure that the parents of the little girl will have much joy with compensation unless it is a voluntary thing. The law probably can't do anything given the perceived lack of criminal responsibility of 5-7 year olds. Alarming though.

I wonder where these small children learned this behaviour from. I notice more terrible crimes occurring in Thailand than say 15 years ago. Woman's head being chopped off in Minburi last year, child rapists and gangs at hospitals.

They learn from watching parents and older siblings in action especially in homes that have few walls but rape is a very different thing and could only come from older students and peer pressure .

Absolutely disgusting. They care more about their funding than the welfare of one of their pupils? I thought schools had an obligation to care of their students, clearly not in this case. The school and the staff members responsible for this "offer" should be named and shamed, and those involved should be sacked and never allowed to work in any form of education ever again.

If it actually was those boys--and not a staff member as some have rightly pointed out--the school has some culpability for this for lack of oversight, but not all of it.  Where did 7-year-old boys learn this from?  Dollars to donuts they've been abused/neglected themselves.... not even necessarily by their family, but by someone. 

 

Want to protect the community and avoid repeats?

 

Follow the problem to the root... Precious little chance of that here, though... Someone might be embarrassed. 

 

And so the cycle will likely continue...

Truly frightening to read these kids are starting so early on a road that can only end in disaster if not properly intercepted !!!!!

Everywhere you see kids with smartphones, the parents are too involved in their own online activities to take notice of what their kids are exposed to.

 

There was recently a report of kids being groomed from within an online game, given instructions how to connect to a different site and download naked photos.

 

The 'smart' devices should never have been accessible to all and sundry, it gives predators easy access to the vulnerable and the less intelligent.

You just may be right. It was many, many decades ago when I was 7 but I don't seem to recall being capable at that age. Additionally, the young little girl would obviously be dry, making such an entry even more difficult.

And nightly on Thai soap operas; physical and emotional violence against women, guns, knives etc.  All of these things have an impresion little kids and many adults, they see it as normal behavior.

It has been looked at by prosecutors, who are powerless to do anything. But the grandparents (notice that no parents are to be seen, as is so often the case in Thailand) can't leave it at that, sad though it might be. As usual in Thailand, 'compensation' (translation, money) will make everything okay.

There are several shocking aspects of this story. I do not recall being able to even consummate "the act" at the age of 7. The school administrators need to be severely punished as co-conspirators for their horrific behavior. And lastly, the kids who did this need to be tried as adults and locked up for ten to twenty years. After they turn of legal age, they can be transferred to a real prison, where they can learn what the consequences of rape really are. 

 

Of course, the judiciary here is very weak, so these terrorist kids will not even be made to pay for this horrendous crime. If that is the case, the parents should be tried for a crime in their place. A bit of cash should not be considered a settlement for this. This girl is going to be traumatized for life. 

 

Perhaps it will be left to the girl to seek justice?

No, the report says that the two kindergarton boys sexually assaulted her.  They would be 5 years old in K3.

Thank you. First post to question this basic premise.

I simply do not believe boys that young could achieve and maintain an erection in such a situation. It  more likely the penetration was by hand or some artifact.

 

I'm sure somebody here will step up with a history of their prowess at that age, but I won't believe them either. It's more than a matter of simply knowing the mechanics of the act. There are equipment requirements as well.

They all have mobile phones and tablets or at least access to them. It is easy to download porn whcich is probably pointed out to them by older boys.  Before smart phones I remember being told that CVDs circulating in villages encouraged young teenagers to try out sex.

The wording in the OP states that the girl was penetrated and that the boys had sexually assaulted her.
I think without having to go into detail the OP has made it clear that a sexual offence has been committed ( presumably by the boys ).
IMO an erect penis is not what is being discussed here and the “ penetration “ or “sexual assault “ was performed by another part of the body or an inanimate object.

The schools stance in trying to cover up this disgusting event is almost as disturbing as the sexual assault.
People’s heads should roll for trying to obstruct justice in only a way that people with something to hide could do.
