Riches to Rags: Swiss man lost everything except his smile after meeting Thai woman

Recommended Posts

I don't see the guy smiling at all.  A better story for him, I hope he reads it:

There he met Noi, Lek, Porn, Nit, Pam, Kitty, Lin and Whaan, all of them the love of his life on his first night and he loved them too much.

He gave them everything with pharmaceutical help.

Now they have nothing and live off handouts of food and money from foreigners who come to a bar beer in Thailand to look for a wife.

I hope he is not really broke. As the 10 million I would guess was he pension money which he could take out as he left the European area. And because he had his own company maybe he not even paid the social security so when he reach 65 he not will become money from swiss too (worst case).

I hear many stories from swiss guys which leave Switzerland and take out their secure pension when left European area (If stay in European area you are not allowed to take this money out).

And yes the salary of about 300'000 baht is not bad but in no way that special as well. Is an upper salary but far away from a wealthy swiss. And the 10 Million nest egg is a very small amount if you want to early retire. But yes if live in Thailand this could give you a few nice years if you would take care your money correctly.

Sad for this guy, but I guess stories like this happen more often. Only that most guys not want that someone write about them, because they know what the majority of people would think about them!

Lots of guys approach & perceive a relationship/marriage in Thailand in the same way as they do in their home countries, I think this is part of the problem.

I was talking to an old retired guy in a pub in Worcester where I now live, some months ago, he was moving out to live in Thailand the next day. He has/had the same girlfriend for 7 years in Thailand, she had convinced him that it's not possible for a farang to own any property in Thailand, condo included.

No but you don't buy the house ,you lone her the money to buy it.

If only he'd have visited the ThaiVisa forums ...

i find this kind of story difficult to believe! am i being cynical? how in god's name can you trust a woman you met in a "notorius" city so much you give her everything? moreover you don't even speak her language!

she has just scammed you yet you keep on calling her "your love". how naive can one be? i'm sorry but i can't feel pity for the dude!

with a Thai lady to give her everything they own. They can't see beyound their (front Porch) that these girls

To add insult to injury, the Thai government has gotten into the act by requiring western retirees to deposit their money into a Thai bank.

It looks like many of the western retirees are staring to wake up on this one and leave Thailand.  At least the bar girls were doing something to make these retirees feel good.  The Thai government has instructed Thai Immigration not to make these people feel good, but just require them to deposit the money.

Hardly the same thing but it does deserve crowbar of the day for getting immigration issues into a story about another naive farang.

It's not like he can rock up in Isaan and shove a card in his missus and get his 10m back is it, which he could do any time at the bank with his extension deposit?

we all know that farang CAN own a condo in Thailand......so part of your comment is wrong........

The problem is not owning a house/condo, the problem is that a farang can not own the land it is built on.

I'm an American married to a Thai, yes she wants a house  I know I can make no claim to it if our marriage goes south as we say in America meaning if relationship goes bad.  It's my third marriage so 3rd time might not be a charm. Beware!

Surely you're not hoping third time lucky?
