Fibre modem to router setup issues

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I just switched from DSL to 3BB fibre optic internet. The tech came out and did the installation of the Fibrehome router/modem (Model AN5506-04-FA) and it is working fine. The problem is that I have a new Asus RT-AC68U wifi router that I want to use because it has better security features and the setup is making me nuts.

In theory, you should be able to put the router/modem into bridge mode and connect a modem LAN port to the WAN port on the Asus, do the Asus setup and away you go. In theory. LOL

After having the 3BB techs put the router in bridge mode (you have to call in to have them do the change) and doing the connections and the setup of the Asus router, it shows that the WAN is connected but there is no internet connection coming through. I have backed up and redone it from the beginning 4 times now, making small changes as I went, and so far the same result.

So, has anyone here been able to successfully do 3BB fibre optic modem to Asus wifi/router? Any assistance would be appreciate.

David

Have you tried setting the computers  IP address manually

and  setting   DNS  and Default gateway  to the Ip address of the Asus router ?
