Is Spago still open?

Yes; new owners as of about two weeks ago.

The link that Isaan Farang posted explains things.

Very sad that John was forced to sell but family comes first. So glad he found a quick buyer so that the best Italian food in Ubon is still available for anyone who wants to indulge.

With John’s departure I’d say that the “best “ Italian food in UBON now is in the hands of an Italian.

It could be argued that it is perhaps, equal best DR but I would prefer to spend my money where I was actually welcomed. ????

To my knowledge - John partnered with Franco when Spago moved to Yuu Hotel.

After a "short" period of partnership, Franco was bought out and went "away" for a while.

Now he is back in Ubon, and has opened a new Italian restaurant in the old location on Chaengsanit rd. The name of the new restaurant is Sapori, and I'm looking forward to trying it out! ????

Thanks for that update makes things a lot clearer. Looks like Mr Franco is a switched on guy.

Had superb meal at Sapori Thursday lunch time, anti-pasta followed by black seafood fettuccine, washed down with some excellent vino; the Italian fare enjoyed equally by my wife.

Brilliant
