Just what Pattaya needs. More congestion on the streets. Think about getting rid of all the busses, songtews and taxis that travel around downtown.

Yes. Get rid of the lot. And the blimmin tourists. And the eastern seaboard too. Let's enjoy life, fishing, girls ...

The empty trams will cause the city to lose face....Which will cause them to ban baht buses to force people to use trams.....

I wonder how the baht bus drivers will react?

I hope they make Rayong part of the route.

And a "Channel Tunnel" style link to Koh Chang.

To be honest if it came true it could be great for the area

Jobs for local people in both construction and maintenance in the long term
Improvements to the local infrastructure while the project is being carried out

The real issue with these projects is the long term maintenance and upkeep of the systems. As everybody knows once the initial pot has been fleeced the interest falls off dramatically

They could be so much better, and they repeatedly let themselves and the people they are supposed to serve down through greed and self serving

Things are not going to change for a long time to come, if ever, unfortunately........

just wondering, are there cheap public busses in phuket to and from airport or was this shut down by taxi maffia ... what about pattaya, why would they allow they easy earned money from overpricing being taken away ?

Please.......A slow-moving tram is no competition to fast-moving baht buses..

Well I do agree. The ones in Blackpool are a tourist attraction but not practical. Problem is in Pattaya there aren't any fast moving baht buses whatsoever. There certainly aren't any on Beach Rd during the weekend evenings this week. A ground level tram would be shut down too for the events so I find that idea surprising. An elevated solution sounded far superior.

They tried regular size bus service a few years back, but were harassed out of existence by baht bus drivers. Bring those back, with armed escorts for however long it takes. No tracks, no tear up of streets... oh, yeah, sorry I forgot... how is that nephew who got diploma ever going to get on gravy train? Would love to see family trees of politicians and "advisors" etc. Would rival Game of Thrones or Plantagenet England back when

This is correct......You could make a open air bus that looked just like a trolly........It would cost 1% of what a trolly does....But there would be no fat to feed the pigs at the trough so I doubt a bus would ever fly...

"with armed escorts for however long it takes"

Now wherever would Thailand get "armed escorts" from? Unheard of.

So they think trams and a monorail will attract nice tourists???  ????????

At least the Chinese will have somewhere to take a leak as they travel 2 stops :whistling:

They suggested that the plan will be to use existing roads.

I can just imagine the outcome of that then, trying to keep other road users off the tracks, accidents and a timetable that you might just as-well throw out of the window!

Not to mention the "pick-pocket" lb companions or food sellers trying to board!

Jobs in Maintenance??  :omfg:
What country ARE you in, not LOS.
That big M word is not in the Thai vocabulary :whistling:
Hence my input under the real issues......

"I like the Baht Busses more. You (still) can get on and off where you want. And there are plenty of them."

A pitty there are none on Third Road operating as a collective transport.

The occasionally ones are only operating as a personal taxi.

Or did it change lately eventually?

Go for broke.

Take the Blue line and 12 billion baht.

Next news will be tram last seen floating off Pattaya beach in heavy rain storm.

I really can't understand the meaning of a tram in Pattaya, so why not make a lane just for bus lines and use the same (which already exist) instead of doing something totally new!

Probably someone sees another chance to make some extra money and at the same time, I built a monument for himself!
