iPhone & iPad will not connect to Photos

Featured Replies

Since I upgraded my iPhone & iPad to the most recent OS neither shows up when I connect to Photos on my iMac.

I assume it's the new upgrade of OS which I can not undo.

I haven’t had any issues. You can try all the obvious things - hard restart your iphone / iPad and computers and try again.

Worst comes to worst and a temporary solution - you can connect to your computer as normal and open an app called “image capture” (should be a free app already installed in your app folder). You can download all your photos and video to a folder of your choice on your computer. Once that’s done you can drag that folder to the opened “photos” app and they will transfer into the photos app. This way will keep all the meta data.

You will then have to delete the original folder with the photos so you are not doubling up taking space on your computer. You can then use image capture app to delete them from your device. But until you get photos app and your device syncing, they will only remain on your computer. At least you will have some space on your device for more photos.

Thank you.

I reinstalled Mojave on iMac, amd have carried out Hard restarts on both iPad & Phone. No luck so far.

I am convinced the problem came with the latest OS update and will try your idea.
