Samui Immigration - New Requirements?

This is specific to Koh Samui (SIO) as they are a world unto themselves.  If anyone has recently obtained their one-year extension based on retirement, could you kindly let us know if there were any surprises?  For instance, is the medical still required?  Can the bank letter/book be stamped the day before or does it need to be on the same day?  Any information would be helpful as I am preparing for my visit in August.
