Do the test and it will say the problem. Maybe it both problem.

 

Is the condo/hotel pool? Or private? 

 

If you have the Chang clean the pool I think he maybe lazy to check. Ask him, I sure he never use the test in the photo I send. Easy to use it. One minute to check. 

Too green, not clear.

He will try to say because “rain”. But not true. If chlorine and ph perfect not have this problem sure.

It's a condo pool.  They rarely put chlorine in the pool so how could we have a problem?

 

When they filled up our pool when it was built, the water was green and it took 24 hours for the water to settle and the chemicals to do their job. Few days later it was the blue colour we wanted. Get a pool specialist, he would give you the right advice.

It's been green on and off for more than 2 years.

 

^ Why haven't you taken control of the situation bought some chemicals and turned the circulating pump on? 

 

Then again maybe none of the other residents are interested in swimming.

A normal pool (ie not salt water or using a chlorinator) should have chlorine added on a regular basis.

 

The picture from Yinn is a pool testing kit. Your pool needs to have the chemicals balanced properly.

 

Using the testing kit will tell you when to add chlorine, acid or soda ash.

 

A green pool is usually a sign of not enough chlorine.

 

Another problem may be not running the pump for long enough each day.

Dirty too.  Rarely vacuumed.

The "juristic" office says they are doing a fantastic job taking care of the pool.

Have them change to a salt water system with Chlorinator. Much less maintenance.

You must have a green thumb! My garden is a lovely shade of brown!

 If that's the case it's pretty simple--it's not being properly serviced daily.  And, maybe some mechanical issues, too.   I have lived or owned in about a dozen different condo projects in Pattaya and I have never seen a problem like this.  Your pool is being maintained very poorly to look like your photo. 

Your chlorine is way too low.  Cheap test kit will do.  You must test everyday.  After a decent rain,  you will need to add more chlorine again. Pool is a money pit.  After you raise up the chlorine,  the dead stuff will fall to the bottom and needs to be vacuum up.  Lot of work with a pool.

I have had the same water in my pool for 5 yrs and it is CRYSTAL CLEAR

 

Tell her Bruce sent you

 Tell the pool owners to sprinkle a bucket of Flocculant Plus powder (Swimmingpoolsthailand.com) liberally over the pool surface. Run the pump on RECYCLE for 30 minutes and leave the powder to do its thing for 12 to 24 hours without filtering. The 'gunge' will settle to the bottom.

Vacuum the pool floor to WASTE. Top up with clean water and add  chlorine and acid to achieve the correct readings.

Exactly. Fantastic; not real. Best get someone to actually service the pool.

Your pool has algae. Lack of chlorine. You need to vacuum it then shock it. I had two pools in Canada and in the hot weather ( yes we get hot weather too) you have to watch and test every week. Don't take long for it to get away on you. Any sign of cloudy water start shocking it.

With the hot weather here you got to watch it more closely. Rather go to the beach than have another pool again. They are a pain in the butt.

You will get no help whatsoever from the condo management, unfortunately most just don't care.  most of the time it needs chlorine added,...what I did was buy some chlorine tablets  / blocks and on the quiet throw one in every day, hey presto...after 4 days water went clear and containment went to bottom of the pool. Then I asked them to clean out the dirt etc which they did.   now I just throw one in occasionally, no smell and clear. I'm sure many will say wrong etc, but was that or nothing

The tiles are in such disrepair, that children regularly cut their feet badly.  The Juristic here does a fine job.  I'm surprised no one recognizes it yet.  Hint, that's the Siam Commercial Building in the foreground of the photo. 

 

It's mustard algae.  Been there for years, and chlorine, we don't need no stinkin chlorine.  They only have some soda ash which is Ph - but they throw that in more than the chlorine which seems to get done once a month.

As @Tropicalevo says, its probably caused by bad maintenance. The green stuff is often algae, caused by lack of chlorine, or other ph-stabilizer, and running time of filter-pump. Furthermore, if not vacuum cleaned the algae stays in the pool.

 

During rainy season unclean water is added – rainwater is not clean – and also if the refill water source is not very clean, makes filtering, including proper filter maintenance and backwash, and ph-balance even more important.

 

You might need a pool-expert to check it for the right cure, and proper future maintenance advice.
