A passenger on a full tour bus heading for the north east of Thailand was given a mat to sit on.

The company said they had told the passenger there were no seats available but he went on social media to show his ticket and the mat.

In the video he was asking the tour bus office if it was right that he had to sit on the floor (Thaivisa notes that sometimes additional passengers at busy times are given stools to sit on in the aisles).

After the footage received much attention on social media including Facebook the Khon Kaen Department of Land Transport called in the operator, ticket seller and other parties.

It was discovered that the footage came from the busy exam period time in February and the passenger was heading for Nakorn Phanom.

He was told that the service was full but decided to ride anyway and was given a mat to sit on.

The DLT fined the operator the top rate of 5,000 baht for overloading.

Begs the question, if the bus was full, which they clearly knew, then why did they sell him a ticket at all?  On the other hand if he knew that there was no seat for him to sit on, why is he complaining?   T.I.T

What about the seatbelt?

I have been on many buses in Northern Vietnam where they fill the aisle up with people on stools. Personally I think I would wait on the next bus. ????
