Customs officials in Chiang Rai’s Mae Sai district on Friday set alight illegal goods worth more than Bt11 million that had been confiscated in 62 cases.

The bonfire of illegal items seized at the Thai-Myanmar border was led by Mae Sai Customs Office chief Wiroj Yaibuates. The items included e-cigarettes, unauthorised medicines and fake goods said to be worth Bt11,98,872.

Talk about brain dead, what about all the disgusting gases/ fumes etc.

What about the no burning rules?

Just a bunch of idiots, thinking they are doing good.... Absolutely pathetic.

I hope they weren't burning the e-cigarettes near a bus stop. Isn't that a 2,000 Baht fine?

One no burning rule for them, one no burning rule for us. Anyway, do you think one department is going to prosecute another department?

Looks like they got some souvenirs before the burning if the burning actually took place just be on the lookout for some trouser less customs officials????

The blaze was started ceremoniously using a genuine ZIPPO lighter purchased in Khao San Road, Bangkok.
