Royal rainmaking continues in Phitsanulok

The royal rainmaking unit in Phitsanulok resumed operations on Monday to try to bring about rainfall in nearby Phichit and Phetchabun.

 

The Phitsanulok-based unit will fly two planes in the morning. Each plane will spray 700 kilogrammes of rainmaking chemicals in cloud-seeding operations in each province, officials said.

 

In the afternoon, the two planes will attack the seeded clouds to try to cause rain, they said.

 

Areas in Phichit and Phetchabun have been hit by a lack of rain, prompting local residents to call for artificial rains.

 

The Phitsanulok-based royal rain making has been seeding clouds in the province and nearby provinces since March.

 

In June the unit moved its operations to Tak before returning to Phitsanulok this month in an attempt to make rain and replenish water resources in Phitsnulok and Phetchabun.

It can do given moisture already in the air, but there are sceptics even amongst the scientific community, but even if it does work it won't produce water in great quantities.

The OP picture is incorrect. Phitsanulok uses Basler 67 planes, DC3s, and there is NO coastline in P'lok. !

Did it ever occur to them that just maybe cloud seeding is part of the problem, not part of the solution.

If the picture shown is intended to be credible and relevant, notice the aircraft is spraying a clear sky.

The aircraft is not "cloud-seeding."

When any debatable success with cloud-seeding relies on specific types of clouds, spraying in the absence of any cloud is guaranteed failure. Might as well just toss the chemicals from a truck onto the ground or boat into the lake. It's about as meaningful.

Well it did rain in many parts of Phitsanulok Province yesterday.
