Stating that "nobody stops after accidents" is ridiculous because it is, simply, just wrong.

Death rates on Thai roads have nothing to do with whether those involved stop after accidents, stopping after an accident does not affect the death rate!

My remarks describe the culture/mindset and actions that I have seen here consistent pattern over decades, not an idiosyncratic event.  Do I endorse or like the attitude - NO!  I wish people were more courteous, responsible, and applied common sense for their sake and others; those traits should be the common denominator if we want to see a decrease in road fatality statistics.  You are clarifying my statement.  Yes, you are correct.

second road JOMTIEN, new crossing, they park right on the bloody crossing here. pedestrians still take their life in their hands when crossing, no one stops at all,  just as well not be there at all n

  • Very sad. Have to be so careful when crossing roads here. Unfortunately most drivers here don't see the importance of being aware of pedestrians when on the roads.

The only solution with such stupid and reckless drivers anywhere in the world, it to have real steep heavy duty road bumpers that force any car to drastically slow down and if not,  loose an axle or two for those driving more then say 35 km/h.....these should be put near pedestrian crossings and near U Turns

I almost got hit recently on 2nd rd. Jomtien by a motorbike going at least 100kph. Escaped by inches.

Times like that, I wish I was a championship quick-draw defensive pistol shooter.

There's a residential neighborhood near me in the U.S. that has four of these speed bumps - 25 kph (15 mph).  People were going way faster than the legal limit of 40 kph.

So, it's been several days, and the motorcycle guy hasn't been caught, I suppose ?

What does the age of the woman have to do with the accident? Is an older man with a younger woman more deserving of harm or death than anyone else?

And why a sarcastic comment about just going across the road to get some food - people have to eat, all people...

May he R.I.P.!

Very unlucky. I consider myself a careful person, but I still got hit twice by motorbikes within 7 or 8 years; once in Pattaya just crossing a road, and the second time in Bangkok, doing the same. Both times hit from the side by reckless, speeding riders that seemed to come out of nowhere.

Fortunately, the worst I suffered was a minor scratch on the leg the second time, and no injury the first time. Sadly, others are not as lucky.
