Foreign couple robbed after taking midnight dip in Pattaya

6pm.jpg

A foreign couple contacted the Pattaya police after they emerged from the sea to find their possessions missing early this morning.

Iranian Sajjad Falahatpishen, 36, had entered the water for a swim with his Russian wife leaving their things on the beach.

Missing was a phone valued at 30,000 baht, 1,000 baht in cash, their room key and other items.

Nawin Sasomthong, 25, a mat rental vendor, said he saw a man in the immediate vicinity who may have been involved. He drove off on a Honda PCX.

Police are investigating.

Shocking, cannot go for a dip, without out a dipper coming along and dipping whilst tourists having a dip.

Silly people...

We don't get the crime reports we used to in the News, and considering how quiet it is in Pattaya at the moment, I would expect more petty crime.

WHY THEY DO WHAT THEY DID??

No chance of recovering anything and the Police will do nothing...nothing at all......

Just like in many other countries.. what do you expect the police to do without any leads ?

They were fortunate that the alleged thief left them their clothes to get dressed.

I would be more worried about catching a disease from the dirty filthy water down there.

Does the phone have a "find my device" activated??

I even heard that there were signs of prostitution. Unbelievable for a family friendly town.

Sad story, imagine coming out from the water to find that your stuff are gone while stinking sewage. They will probably never come back again.

When tourists get in the plane they often leave their brains at home.

what could possibly go wrong, I’m on holiday!

These are some brave Iranians swimming in that soup ????

Throw in a pea, they can play water polo.

If they purchased insurance before travelling they would need a police report to file a claim. Police just need to give them a copy of the report which can then be translated.

On occasion, the cops do find the miscreants. The penalties hardly make law enforcement worthwhile though. A problem which can be transcribed to a lot of 1st world countries nowadays.

In such cases, it is always best to leave your precious stuff and most of your cash in your room (possibly in some spot relatively safe, such as among a pile of dirty clothes), rather than on the beach. Okay, there is also the risk of in-hotelroom-theft, but the chances are much lower.
