And how are you defining a farang? 80% of the Thai people are farangs, Thai-Chins from Yunnan. ????

Yes, that is correct .

She initially said that I can stay for free, I insisted on "paying my way" and then She said "OK £10 a week" and I insisted on being generous and giving her £20

I went home to stay with my folks in CA for month when I was about twenty. I was working in Florida, just got my annual bonus and had six weeks off.

I offered to chip in and dad said no, I wouldn’t dream of taking you money (or some such). He and mom were both retired by then, and it was just them at the house.

I was flush with bonus money and proud. No, I insisted. I want to pay my share.

Okay he says. Goes to the kitchen, pulls out mom’s book, a pencil and a score pad. Adds everything up for the previous year up, divides it by twelve, divides it by three. Re-runs the number and tells me $304.28.

The normal definition would be 'Caucasian', I don't think any Chinese fall into that ethnic classification.

And do you turn the gas off when you turn your bacon over?

I dont switch the gas off , I only cook my bacon on one side and thus no need to turn the gas off because I dont turn the bacon over .

I did post a photo earlier in the thread of my one sided cooked bacon

Haven't read the whole thread so can someone confirm its about a middle aged man who can no longer afford to live in Thailand and went back to the UK to be saved by Mommy whilst still posting on TV 24/7 and slagging of the kingdom?

I hope its not true but I fear it maybe...

That seems about correct.

Funny, I read or post. Ery little on thaivisa while 8m out of the country.

I'm trying to carry that through into when I'm in the country as well.

Completely incorrect actually

I didnt leave Thailand because I could no longer afford it , I had things in the UK that I needed to go back for , I stayed around my mums in the spare room, my childhood room, for a while .

I also dont not "slag off" Thailand , infact , some posters on here have accused me of being a Thai apologist and of have rose tinted specs on .

So,he was wrong on all counts

So you are living the life eating discount prepared meals?

Why don't you just get on with your life?

Seems odd that you need to continually validate yourself here.

Living life eating discount meals?????

sounds to me like expats in Thailand.

No comeback on that one!

I didnt ever cook anything in my nine years in Thailand and its much more cheaper and convenient to get a meal and put in in the microwave for 2 minutes, taking it out stirring it and then putting in back in the microwave for a further 2 minutes , rather thn cooking food

Max, home alone in England, eating junk food in mid winter. A UK apologist. Desperate times.

Why is it significant that it was your “childhood room” that you are/were in?

Nothing wrong with that .

I am quite happy and content to go to ASDA and buy a meal for two for £ 1.19, reduced from £ 4.75  and then going home and having the meal for two on my own

  Whats wrong with that ?

Chicken Korma

Chicken tikka Masala

Pilau rice

Naam brad and onion Bhajis and I dont have to share it with anyone.

Not claiming that its great, cant complain even at the full price (200 Baht) .

That is at least comparable to Thai prices  and maybe even cheaper and considering the sale price was 50 Baht , I believe that there is nowhere in Thailand where you could get that much food for 50 Baht

But how much is your council tax, petrol, water and other utilities? I looked at buying somewhere back home this year but the council tax was over 150 quid a month and the water 40. Food is cheap, but the overheads more than make up for it.
