BANGKOK (NNT) - At an academic conference for high-ranking executives from six institutes, the Election Commission was advised to work proactively and to encourage people to establish and join networks to promote transparent, independent, free and fair elections.

The 10th academic conference, on the theme of Thailand’s future amid world changes, was attended by students of the National Defense College, King Prajadhipok’s Institute and the Election Commission’s Election and Political Development Institute. Academic conclusions from topics in the conference will be disseminated and exchanged to help in the management of changes in Thailand. One of the topics was entitled "Digital, Election Commission and Transparent, Fair Elections"|.

There have been six general elections since the promulgation of the constitutions of 1997 and 2007. Two of those elections were declared null and void due to poor preparation. The number of election commissioners has been increased to seven under the current constitution and they are empowered to examine the electoral process, investigate, hand out the orange cards or suspend elections. The March 24th election saw social media playing a significant role in the effort to ensure a transparent poll.

The Election Commission was also advised to restructure the agency for improved efficiency and to disseminate knowledge to the people via educational networks.

After the fact, now a wait of 5 years for something of a fairer election, once the removal of the stacked senate, orange cards should have been changed to red cards for this

the people already knew of the stacked deck no education needed.

Also they did not give the correct result. So how to fix this?

So more commissioners to shoulder the workload will make for more efficient elections? They could try to work out the rules before the elections not after them. Yes I know they had to get the right result but that is going so well a few months down the track.

Thinking "outside the box" there!

A rather belated action !!!

March would have been a lot more appropriate

Not thinking out side of the box should read "fiddling out side of the box"

If a fair election was ever held and opposition win, it would only be a matter of time before another coup was implemented to restore stable Government, or maybe they may think of a more original excuse. Maybe "People not happy miss the General who make them "laugh" and happy.
