The Social Security Office (SSO) is allowing its members free medical check-up at 716 hospitals nationwide, hoping that early diagnosis will lead to cheaper, more effective cure.

SSO secretary-general Ananchai Uthaipattanacheep said the office is committed to providing insured persons with comprehensive medical services, including regular medical check-up to detect early symptoms of diseases that could help with more effective disease prevention and treatment.

“Many deadly diseases like breast cancer, diabetes, dyslipidemia, chronic kidney failure, heart disease, coronary artery disease, and more can be diagnosed early,” he said. “An early diagnosis can essentially boost the success rate in treating these diseases at considerably lower cost than treating them in the later stages.”

The secretary-general confirmed that insured persons under the Social Security Act are guaranteed to receive medical check-up services at participating hospitals countrywide, completely free of charge.

As of July 31, 716 hospitals are registered for the free medical check-up programmes, 238 are medical centres operated directly under the SSO, 429 are participating public and private hospitals, and 49 are medical centres certified to provide medical examination to insured persons.

Ananchai further added that it would be advisable for insured persons to take care of their health and undergo regular medical check-ups to detect any serious diseases early. “Insured persons can check the directory of hospitals and medical centres that provide free medical check-up at www.sso.go.th, or inquire in person at branches of Social Security Office nationwide. Alternately, they can call hotline 1506, which has officials standby 24/7.

These reports are great although my wife's family never get to hear about any of the freebies, for example no one got invited to take the flu jab that was meant to be handed our earlier in the year due to over stocks..

I fear what is intended doesn't always translate into reality.

Great stimulus, pay the doctors to give a free check up and see how many sick people you find to charge for teatment and sell a bag of mix lollies sorry drugs.Nice win for rich doctors.

More nonsense  talk, Wife went for the "free  check up"  they didnt  do  half  the  things on the list, said they didnt  have enough  money, usual BS  from "govt"
