Thai Rath reported that a tourist from New Zealand was recovering after he was plucked unconscious from the sea near the KC Grande Resort hotel on White Sand Beach on Koh Chang late yesterday afternoon.

Rescue services and beach lifeguards had given CPR to Mr Daniel Christian, 59, until he was picked up and taken to the International Hospital on the holiday island.

A picture published by Thai Rath also showed a foreigner helping out though this was not mentioned in the story.

Witnesses had seen the tourist go further and further out until a rip current struck.

Staff at the hotel had warned tourists about unpredictable currents and advised swimmers to stay close to the shore.

Doctors reported that Mr Christian was out of danger and recovering from his ordeal.

A foreigner helping? Looks to me he's the one doing the job.

Yes but two Thais were watching so majority wins.

Fascinating photo....I wonder who was in charge and managed the situation?

There must be protocol in place ????
