When applying for a new U.K passport in Bangkok, do they cut/void the current passport when you apply or when you pick up the new one? Thanks in advance. 

Pretty sure when you get the new one, since you'd have no way to travel if they lopped him beforehand.

That was my assumption as well. I'm hoping someone can confirm... I'll be extending my visa early next month. Applying for one now and then finding out it gets clipped would cause problems. 

when its returned , they need to ask for your permission before they void it

I just renewed mine in Bangkok and they clip it when you get the new one.

When I got my new passport I clipped cut corner of old myself.

these days they invalidate the old one themselves

Did my last UK passport renewal in CM UK consulate 9 years ago, passport now coming up to ten years in Nov '20 I will renew mine next year with Keyvisaco 5000 baht + cost of new UK passport.
