who can repair cheap solar inverter?

Recommended Posts

I have a cheap Chinese micro solar inverter. I bought the MosFets to swap them, but I doubt that is the problem...does anyone know a shop that can check it?
It was new $100 so I don't want to pay too much.....I went to a local guy and he told he knows only HiFi....

OP, maybe mention where you are located, brand name of unit etc.

Failing that, I imagine anyone who supplies similar units would be a good place to start.

in Bangkok, but it is lightweight (microinverter 600 Watt...that fits in an bigger envelope). No brand.
These things are fairly simple for someone who understand electronics and what I read it is always the same parts that fail....unfortunately still to difficult for me ????.
When you unplug the 220 Volt under load some parts inside break and I did exactly that ????. I bought it in China and of course they don't answer my messages....

Been there many times for components. But not actually had them fix anything, that I recall. But they are always working on something. Very helpful.

Crossy: yes WVC-600, but I bought it on Aliexpress from a different company, so I don't know if it is a copy of that. There are like 20 companies that sell these and they all look the same.....are these all copies or is it a single producer?
It worked excellent until I disconnected it from the mains under load.....if they would only put a sticker there....

My understanding is that Kaideng are the original manufacturer. It certainly won't hurt to drop support a mail.

I have a couple of these, they seem to work well (although they run very hot).

But the power fail on load problem, if it is still a problem with the updated units (which have an 8 digit wireless ID) is worrying, mains failures when the sun is out aren't exactly unknown.

Do you have a link to any pages that discuss this issue?

VocalNeal: do you have a phone number from them?

I don't think that will do you much good. Best just go there.

Crossy,

I sent them an email and got it returned as the recipient did not accept it....will try from a other email account.
I disconnect them under load, because we installed 2 more panels --> that was wrong. I guess when mains fail it is a different situation....
It were 2 units: 1 is now complete dead, not even red light. When I measure DC I have zero resistance between + and -.
The second unit still works, but when there is a cloud passing it resets and has to ramp up again....so if there is good weather it works just fine, if it is mixed it only resets all the day.
For the dead one I tried to buy the mosfets and just swap them....but just today they canceled my order and refunded the money for the 11 mosfets ($8).
No I don't know any page that discuss that......currently I work on 1000 + 600 Watt inverter in the room which are very noisy but work OK.

Crossy: they just answered......they repair for free if I send them: very nice.

They will probably charge you $10 shipping to send it back to Thailand, not sure how duty and VAT work on items returned from repair.

They use DPEX Express, maybe better if they used regular airmail for just one inverter.

for duty and tax normally no problem, if they declare as used item $30.
If you do the repair thing correctly you would have to declare that on sending out, but not worth the hassle.
I ordered 1 new one and asked them if they recommend that I send it in or if they think that just swapping some parts (which I can do myself) will fix it.

would love to have the panels with microinverter again instead of many thick cables with noisy 1000 Watt inverter, plugged into the sockets.....

Btw. I am surprised how much electric I get early morning or with clouds and I am surprised how comparable little I get at full hot sun, because the panels get hot. (cheapest poly)....Anyway most electric when ACs run most...just perfect.

@h90 do you have the wireless modem if not do your inverters have 4 digit IDs?

I have a modem which just needs a serial cable and USB/serial adaptor if your PC doesn't have RS-232. Cost $56 but it doesn't work with my 8 digit inverters. Yours for 300Baht + postage ???? PM me.
