This is my first post and I’d really appreciate some advice, please.

I met my Isaan girlfriend in Bangkok, late last year, where she works, in a massage shop and I don’t mean on Soi Cowboy ???? When I came back to the UK, we kept in touch and talked every day and got to know each other very well. In July this year, I went back to Bangkok to spend 3 weeks with her and it was truly wonderful. In the months that have passed, I have decided I want to bring her to the UK on a 6 month tourist visa and if that goes well, a marriage visa after that.

Her Passport expires next July, so a few weeks ago she went to the Passport Office to apply for a new one. Though there was an issue. She had previously worked in China for a company, who it turned out didn’t apply for the correct work visa, etc, so there were issues with her being allowed to leave there.  The Thai embassy finally sorted it out and she was able to return to Bangkok. But, they are now saying, if she wants a new passport she has to pay 50,000 THB for the costs they previously incurred! This seems ridiculous and makes very little sense to me. I wondered if anyone has encountered this situation.

I would be very grateful if anyone could help.

Easily fixed, tell her you will pay passport office directly  and see what her response would be

the sick buffallo does not work anymore, need to get more creative. I had one where her mother kept dying every few weeks and each time she needed 25 000 for the funeral

Wonder what she was doing in China?. Looks like her hubby, bf or brother is after a new scooter.

She is testing you...to see how gullible you are.  

 

I know you do not want to hear this...but you are being played by yet another charming Thai woman that has managed to attract a foreigner...who she sees as a personal banker...

 

She is likely getting advice from other Thais on how to get you, her personal ATM machine, to start coughing up money...it will become a never ending string of unfortunate events where you must send money to rescue her from her unfortunate dilemma.

 

Don't go down that road!   ????

Maybe she is truly a lovely girl. Or maybe not. Either way, chances of a tourist visa vanishingly small.

 

May I also point out the hole in the story?

 

She says her passport is valid till next July. When an embassy repatriates one of its citizens in such circumstances they certainly don't leave them in possession of a valid passport to renew in the first place.

It is up to the o.p. to believe what he wants, and to pay for her what he wants. 

 

Of course by posting here, it shows already that he has certain doubts about the veracity of her story.

What could go wrong taking a bar girl to the UK to be your wife?...had the OP rad 0nly 10% of the negatives concerning wedding a Thai bar girl he would runaways as fast as he could, but, when you're 'in love' all common sense, all the red warning light and bells sounding in your head means nothing...
