BANGKOK(NNT) - Ensuring successful realization of key national energy policies, the Ministry of Energy has set a 3-month deadline on urgent projects, giving priority to those related to grassroots economies such as community power plants, and a farm products pricing increase on purchases for fuel production.

The Minister of Energy, Sonthirat Sonthijirawong has held a meeting with ministerial executives and head of subsidiaries to advance key policies set by the ministry that have to be completed in three months, including the establishment of Quick Win small scale power plants in suitable communities, particularly those that have already requested small power plant license from the Office of Energy Regulatory Commission in locations where the current power grid has the capacity to support the operation.

Final regulations and conditions for the Quick Win power plant campaign will be disclosed in November, with the first 10-20 plants set to be constructed and start feeding electricity into the power grid in the first half of 2020.

On the plan to raise farm product pricing through purchases of biodiesel production ingredients, the Ministry of Energy will from 1st November 2020 make B10 oil officially a standard-grade fuel, anticipating B10 consumption of 51 million liters in Q2 2020. The ministry also has a plan and an ongoing feasibility study to promote E20 benzine oil as a standard-grade product.

Menwhile, the Ministry of Energy is giving high priority to the reduction of PM 2.5 airborne dust concentrations. In the meeting today, related agencies have been appointed to find ways to solve the issue. Concrete solutions are set to be introduced within the next 1-2 months.

Related agencies will have to present project proposals to realize urgent ministerial policies on 14th November, ensuring that all projects comply with government policies and the Energy for All policy. Approved project proposals will be refined to suit the planning of the 2021 fiscal year budget by the Ministry of Energy, which needs to be submitted in January next year.

"Fast track"....what new words we are learning.

The clunky and ponderous Thai government administrative system will make sure that never happens.

More meaningless platitudes!  eg 'related agencies have been appointed to find ways to solve the issue' of ' PM 2.5 airborne dust concentrations.'  Do the related agencies include: the farmers burning stubble?;  The police, ignoring the stubble burning?; bus companies failing to maintain their vehicles?; the police checking exhaust emissions?

This a Thai view; it's all the fault of the dastardly farang.

555. No it was me being sarcastic as most don't even know what PM2.5 is and where it comes from. They all assume it is from diesel engines when......
