He mentioned a top-box and it seems they are often mounted to "hang over the rear".

This means in parking areas the top-box often blocks the way.

Dimensions I gave were front of front tire to extreme rear

On the Wave that is the rear fender

On the PCX that is the rear of the top box

Update:

Had planned to buy 2017 Duke 200 from PJ Trading. B59.900.

The plan was I could rent for 1 week at 1,800,

with rent applicable to purchase price.

However, she has yet to get the registration current.

Also turns out the bike is a 2015 or 2016.

Meanwhile found another 2015 offered in BKK.

This seller (maybe a dealer) will deliver it to Pattaya DLT for B39K.

Has 30Kkm plus on odo.

Also has windscreen, bark-busters and crash bars around engine.

Needs new rear tire.

3,000 bart  to a bloke you've never met for a bike you've never seen - What could possibly go wrong ?

are you aware that as the bike won't be Chonburi / Pattaya registered, its a rigmarole to get it re-registered on a pattaya plate ?  - Can't be done at the LTO by Regents School ......  Have to go to the area office in Chonburi at least twice - sometimes 3 times - dozens of traffic lights between pattaya and there ..... passed from pillar to post..no one speaks english ! - You'll understand why when people who are selling a locally registered vehicle, they use the expression "easy pattaya transfer" .....

That said - bike looks good and for that price prob worth the faffing around.......

We're not talking about a change of address by an existing owner - we're talking of a change of owner where the bike is registed in another province - frankly your comment is irrelevant.....

Popa.....

your 2012 novo comment relates to a change of address by an existing owner - nowt to do with a change of ownership of a bike from another province.....

"agency can do it" - yep they sure can - agents can pretty much do everything ...... depends if you're happy forking 4,000 odd bart for the privilidge ...... you seem too shrewd for that.... or maybe you're not ??

"out 3,000 baht" - nice that you're so flippant - hope you don't get skanked - i don't want to get yet another "told you so" T shirt .........

Talking of being cheated - This guy was trusting and has fallen flat on his face:

not flippant, just a fact

[the meteor part is flippant]

papa too lazy/chicken to go bkk to test/buy bike,

then the nightmare ride back to Patters.

Have done it a few times ... scary as <deleted> !

Rather risk $100 than traffic mayhem,

maybe getting lost,

or possible mechanical problem.

I bought the bike second hand. On BKK plates. Changed ownership to myself at DLT. My name in green book.

Lived from Songkla to Chiang Mai. Changed address each time.

Owners name in book still mine

Why do I care if plate says BKK ? Answer - CGAF

Never an issue at any DLT with having BKK plates and a ... lets say Rayong address. So your post makes no sense

It’s a lot of use...if maintained well yeah no problem, but if not could need many new parts fork seals, shock, discs, chain sprockets..etc,etc and that’s without looking at the engine.

i have bought a 2nd hand bike before without looking at it and getting it delivered to me...it was a big mistake would never do it again.

mmm a dealer selling it for 39,000 baht - wonder what he paid for it ?  - 25, maybe ? - probably from an auction - quite probably a finance snatch back (in bkk there are twice weekly finance snatchback auctions with 500 plus bikes and 500 plus cars - you couldn't catch your breath) - and if the original owner couldn't afford to pay the credit - he ain't likely to have paid the sky high service costs at the ktm dealer.....

30,000 km i guess isn't a huge amount for the engine if it has been regularly serviced - papa did ask the dealer to photo the fully stamped book so you can check the service history ?  no ?

did you get the dealer to send you a photo of page 18 of the book ? - this shows if anything un toward has happened to the bike - like it being an insurance rite-off ?  no ?

i would suspect that if thais are involved there will be no history - so how would you know firstly that it has has been serviced at the correct times with good quality oil (ktm's are finiky little things and need high quality oil changes on a regular basis to keep them running properly) and secondly - that it hasn't been clocked ?

As said earlier if it has done 30,0000 km - its not just the engine, but things like fork seals, brake pads, chain / sprockets and the like.... which would be expensive on this type of bike.....

As regards them bringing the bike to you ....mmm puts you in a position of weekness, imho -  you've already given them 3k and will be under pressure to complete the deal....... personally i would have put the seller's address into my phone gps and gone and looked at it ........then if it's a shead - easy to walk away ......

i wish you the very best of luck papa ......

Don’t think it would have been that cheap unless a crash repair...a lot of dealers turn bikes around for 2 to 3000 profit.

You make good points.

If something fishy is found with bike

[smokey, funky chain, leaky seals, bad rear shock or bearings]

(or paperwork)

papa will renegotiate or eat the 3000 and walk away.

Plan to do complete service: filters, Amsoil, tires for sure.

Maybe new chain /sprockets, [~$100/set]

fork-seals [cheap B600 installed] as needed.

Hopefully rear shock is ok as they be kinda spendy.

No fool like an old fool, ...

Okay boys & girls.

Just finished looking at this bike.

Not favourably impressed.

Cosmetically pretty good. but

Sprockets worn and chain already near limit.

Radiator fan not on thermostat, but manual switch.

Oil very black.

Transfer fee was to be over B5000.

So papa kisses B3K deposit bye bye.

Will try for bike from local PJ Trading at B59k,

including transfer fee

fewer than 8Kkm on odo.

Fresh Motul oil and filters.

has good quality new new tires &

so about B12,000/ more net.

Less risky and better at resale in future.

????

i think any KTM will be hard resale.

Which sky high service cost?

I think I paid for my 1000km inspection less than 2000B with new oil, valve check, etc.

I asked them for their hourly rates. I think the highest rate was something about 700B for the 1290 bike. And I think the hourly rate for the 390 was less than 400B/h. Is that expensive? I don't think so.

Obviously it's more than for a scooter but that should surprise nobody. Get a service for big sports bike to get an idea of the meaning of expensive.

B400 = $13/hr.

In Denver big dealership [all brands] charges ~$120/hr.

Small shop guy, $85/hr., and he is not very good.
